As it
seems to do every
single year, Norcent is gearing up for CES with a swank new HDTV. For 2008, we're looking at the 42-inch LT-4231P, which offers up a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, a slew of ports including HDMI, component, S-Video, composite and VGA and a pair of 15-watt speakers to boot. Furthermore, you'll notice a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, 500 nits of brightness, 178-degree viewing angles, a trilingual on-screen menu, wall-mounting capability, 3D digital comb filter and a built-in tuner that handles NTSC, ATSC and Clear-QAM. Sadly, you'll have to wait until March to pick this one up, but at least it'll only run you $1,299.99 when that day comes.

2000:1? 2000:1? You're kidding right? I guess it's intended for room with not much light.
Many manufacturers are making LCD panels with 8000 and 10000:1 contrast ratios.

Wow... with those specs... go get a crappy Insiquia for about 3 to 4 hundred dollars cheaper.

The contrast ratio quoted is probably the "true" contrast ratio, as opposed to the "dynamic" contrast ratio that many provide. If the set features a dynamic backlight of course.
