Hitachi to show off 1.5-inch thick plasma, .75-inch thick LCD prototypes at CES
Slimming down LCDs just wasn't enough, Hitachi will demo a 1.5-inch thick plasma HDTV at CES. Cutting more than a third of the thickness from previous displays, it ensures your screen will look as incredible from the side as it does the front. Also on display, but without concrete plans for release, are the "super" Ultra Thin LCD that's just .75-inches thick, a search technology for visual images, TV video sharing over the internet without a PC, a wireless video gateway and a prototype IPTV interface. Looking from the near future to the slightly further-off future, we'll get a look at it in Vegas. Check out a side profile of the skinny plasma after the break.

The review did not mention the sizes that will be to market first?
What sizes are in the works including resolution (should be absolutely HDTV however)...
Inputs - displayport, hdmi, dvi etc?

Maybe it's just me, but isn't it weird to use a image with a woman trying to enhance her eyelashes (supposedly to make them longer and thicker) on a TV that is supposed to seem thinner?
Or am I seeing this wrong and she's applying makeup with a brush. I can't tell from the angle. ;P

That right there, is called thinking too hard.
Andir3.0 @ Jan 5th 2008 7:43AM

i thought plasma was already obsolete?
stoner @ Jan 5th 2008 8:23AM
due to the recent advances in plasma picture quality, as show by the Pioneer Elite KURO 60" Plasma. It's picture quality is amazing, and the blacks are truly black, not an off grey. Is handsdown the best plasma TV and potentially is better than a Sony Bravia LCD screen
Jeff @ Jan 5th 2008 9:17AM
The TV is cool and all, but I'd just like to say, if your apartment looks like the one in that picture, you have severe emotional deficiencies.

Please, G*d make sure these folks make them in 55" and 60" Ultravision Cineform for the U.S.
