Marantz's new high-end Blu-ray player
Supposedly Marantz's new Blu-ray player was at CEDIA, but if it was, we missed it. We won't let that happen again next week and we guarantee we'll get our hands-on the new BD8002 at CES next Wednesday. This players seems it may be one of best players ever considering it includes everything we can think of -- as it should with a MSRP of $2,099.99. At the top of the list is the players ability to decode just about every new audio codec out there including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA, and output it via 7.1 analog outs or uncompressed via HDMI. The icing on the cake is the inclusion of the 10-bit Silicon Optix Realta video processor, which should help make it the best Profile 1.1 player yet when it's released the second quarter of 2008.

Marantz makes some great, albeit higher priced, HT gear.
I have a receiver and a few amps from them and had a DVD player. I love the simplicity in design and functionality. Mainly in the receiver, none of these 3,000 bullcrap DSPs that companies like Sony and Yamaha just love to throw in, wasting time and money. Can someone please tell me when I am going to need a Ocean Cave DSP?
I am actually looking at the Onkyo Integra Processor to add HDMI switching and the new audio formats so I can keep my marantz receiver for amps, I have come to know and love the sound they produce from my Paradigm speakers.
Just give me simplicity and functionality, that is all I need.

"This players seems..."
Oh, my head... it hurts.
I just wish I were one of those people that could actually afford and be legitimately interested in something like this.

I love marantz gear, but are you telling me that they didn't include a HDD or flash for future 2.0 profile compatibility?
Ben @ Jan 4th 2008 2:14PM
It does Andy, I just didn't mention it in my post. If you click through to the read link you'll see it.

Geez us is that thing huge...I really wonder if there's even $1000 worth of parts in there.
silverblackvoid @ Jan 4th 2008 3:39PM
believe me pal, when marantz makes 'em, its worth the price.
Ishimaru @ Jan 4th 2008 3:45PM
I know about Marantz, I'm just wondering if it worth the $2100. But then again, if you have $2100 to spend on a Blu-Ray player, you don't really care about money :)

Marantz makes very tankish stuff. Between them and their sister company Denon (heard of 'em?) they are the brand that is much slower to release products with new technology. Their stuff is always rock solid quality.

Finally! A really expensive Blu-ray player!

Are you saying that low end blu-ray players suck?
o23nklafg @ Jan 4th 2008 10:41PM
For that price it ought to be dual format.
