Engadget is all over CES 2008

The countdown to CES begins!
CES AV club: the Engadget podcast returns, video with Veronica Belmont!
Engadget: now faster, with better galleries, and fully ready for CES
Sunday, January 6th
All day - Almost all other press conferences. If it's a major company, they'll probably be holding their press conference on Sunday, so stick close by.
4:00PM PT / 7:00PM ET - Sony's CES keynote.
6:30PM PT / 9:30PM ET - Bill Gates's 12th and final CES keynote (probably). Not to be missed!
7:00PM PT / 10:00PM ET - Digital Experience. Tons to see here, you'll want to stick around Sunday night.

PC displays - we might very well see 120Hz monitors introduced at CES. How about new IPS screens, new LED backlit displays, or maybe even OLED? Looking forward to your coverage if NEC, Samsung et al. pull through.

I'd really like to see if Meizu will pull out the proverbial rabbit and show up with their much-rumored/discussed/anticipated/mocked M8.

I'm most intersted in hearing what Mitsubishi announce with regards to laser TVs and whether Sony will be showing an improved version of their FED PC monitor they showed back in April (which was only 19.2'' and 1280 x 960).
hemmy @ Jan 5th 2008 11:10PM

What I'm dying to know about:
2008 models of DVD Recorders with built-in ATSC tuners (such as the popular Panasonic DMR-EZ47VK) which output the full HD signal without first downconverting to 480 then upconverting it. LG and Sony also make such units. All current units downconvert the HD signal first, resulting in a trashed picture.
Who's this for? Owners of the earlier "HD-ready" TVs who want a combo unit which can act as both a tuner to watch live OTA HDTV, and record it (in SD) to DVD.
