Nokia E71 in the wild?
Looks legit enough, doesn't it? The supposed successor to the E61i has broken cover via this shot of the device -- in prototype "EXX" form, no less -- being proudly displayed in some lucky son of a gun's hand. The "E" moniker designates a Nokia smartphone with a business slant, of course, and thanks to a lovely QWERTY board, the E71 seems to be no exception; specs on the E51-ish device are said to be pretty much in line with what we'd expect for a circa-2008 piece, including HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel primary cam with a secondary up front for video calling. As for North American 3G, well... as usual, we can only hope. We're not sure whether this thing will break officially here at CES, but if it does, you'll be the first to know.

all you guys are a bunch of idiots!
this guy took of the silver skin of the phone and is showing it raw thinking he can fool us. Nokia would never give out it's phone to someone like him. If they wanted it to be tested, it would have been secret and inside the european nokia connections!

This is SPARTAAA!
it looks just like my motorola q9c
US 3G!!
Suddenly everyone need a steel rim on the phones :P
It has to have a chrome (steal) steel rim to give it an iPhoney sort of look if you squint in the dark just right. Check real close to see if there's some tiny logo mark on it that looks like an apple with a bite taken out of it.
Apple should have patented the chrome steel rim on handsets because every handset vendor is going to be using one or maybe two for good measure.
Take a little look-see at the Nokia 6233. 2005, silver border, black body.. Yes, nokia ripped off the iphone ...
I think it only makes sense that Nokia would continue using attractive design aspects like that in future models, but unfortunately uninformed ass wipes are always gonna cry iphone rip off....
BGR is reporting this as Nokia Liam!! Looks interesting and set to launch Q2 on Vodafone
Well it's related to the iPhone in the sense Nokia stole the chrome border straight from the iPhone...
damn that's hot.
This thing is so nice! But lose that tacky chrome. Chrome is just asking for scratches and adds very little to the overall appearance.
why is these pictures always blurry....?
THIS IS SUPERMAN!
@JT
WRONG! I'm not exactly sure of the model number and i'm way too lazy to go look it up, but there is a nokia that has a silver border like that which has been around A LOT longer than the iphone. In fact, my first though when looking at the iphone for the first time was "Hey, I've seen that before...."... Now if nokia do the normal thing and continue using design elements from their own models, they're going to be accused of being iphone-ripper-offererers..
Wait, it's the Nokia 6233.... that's the one i was talking about.. 2005, silver border, black body, yeah, the iphone wasn't inspired by it at all...
wow this ones awesome... i'm tempted to change my e61i for an e71
YUCK!
the keyboard looks like an old TI-83
This doesn't look anything like an iPhone to me. It looks like that Android prototype, but less blocky.
E71 would be a strange model number for the E61's successor because it would imply that that existing E70 (the butterfly) had been orphaned. But then I don't know how well the E70 is selling (I own one and it is awesome. I would hate to see the form factor lost).
