MOGO Wireless signal booster claims to bag bars for your phone
Ladies and gentlemen -- having connection trouble with your mobile phone? Wishing for more, more, and still more bars in your tiny little LCD display? Well, perhaps the good people at MOGO (not to be confused with Newton, the MoGo mouse-makers) might be able to help. The company has recently introduced a wireless cellular signal amplifier which claims to step up your 800MHz and 1900MHz signals into the stratosphere. Your hard-spent $149 will supposedly garner you an extra two bars and fewer dropped calls on your AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltel, or Verizon phone. In our humble experience, you can't really bet on a magic solution for improved signal strength, short of purchasing your mobile provider outright, investing in new towers, then making sure they end up close to your favorite hang-out spots... which we've done a number of times.

Steve, Where did you find this product at?
If you want something that works, try Wilson Electronics. 'Most' cell phones have a jack (covered by a rubber piece) for a connection to an external booster or antenna built in to them. Wilson also makes (wireless) indoor repeater antennas that can extend an outdoor signal indoors.

There's another one out there, too ... I saw it at Fry's. The other version is a little more visually appealing and consumer oriented (where the wilson ones look more like permanent structural additions to a car or building or something). And it's more like a repeater than something you attach to your phone. Unfortunately, I can't remember the vendor's name.
Has anybody actually tried the MoGo stick? I have one and all I can say is WOW! Before you discount a brand new technology, you might try testing it! Everything out there up to this point has only been a repeater. From what I've read and experienced in my own car, this thing is completely different. I'm just saying, it's worth researching before you discount it.
I really haven't discounted it, but I do know there are a ton of gimmicks out there and your'e best bet is to stick with what is known to work.
Too many gimmicks out there.

hm. Wonder if it works with MetroPCS.
In my experience, most small carriers can be lined up with Alltel to test their compatibility. I have no idea why, but thats just what I've noticed. In fact before Alltel bought our small local providor, I called them once to ask, and they said "Just look for Alltel compatibility"
@ Andrew, you must be referring to the old GTE Mobilenet system.
@ Andrew, you must be referring to the old GTE Mobilenet system, Alltell purchased many years ago just before GTE and Bell merged to form Verizon.
