Philips SHE9850 and SHE9800 wired headphones: "intelligent" ear-matching
Sure, it's hard to make headphones sound interesting in a press release, but Philips is really gunning hard today -- the SHE9850 and SHE9800 "premium metal" in-ear phones "intelligently adjust" to your ear based on "detailed research into the anatomy of ears." All this, in a $79 pair of buds. Of course, you'll have to move up to the $99 SHE9850s (pictured) which Philips -- in all seriousness -- says are "so perfectly matched to ears that they provide an unparalleled level of comfort." Of course, you're still on your own to figure out which of the four included silicon and foam ear pieces fit your ears best -- which probably has more to do with in-ear sound quality than anything -- but once you do, you'll be ready for "the ultimate in music enjoyment." If you think you can handle it, there's a pic of the 9800s after the break.

The first ones look nice... not feeling the 9800s though.

Are you Gay?
Ghen @ Jan 6th 2008 5:53PM
he probably isn't. Statistically speaking most people are heterosexual. Not exactly sure why it matters to you though.
Richard @ Jan 6th 2008 5:55PM
Yeah, I don't really understand your question. Between the two, the first ones look better. How does stating that make me gay? I'm not buying them, I'm fine with my Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 3 Studio's and Bang & Olufsen Form 2's.
Senor_Tom @ Jan 6th 2008 6:13PM
why the gay comment, that just makes me think your insecure about your sexuality and want others to be the same....

What? Me? Never... ;)
Oh and for the record, no, I'm not gay.

I was considering the Super.fi 3's as well but am going for the MylarOne X3i's instead for 67$ with free Audio Technica ck5's. Go to http://www.jaben.net/shopping.html to check em out. They have an unlimited warrantee. But these have that crappy Philips sq that my hn110's suffer from.

If u still have to choose from 4 choices, what exactly makes these "intelligent"?
steve @ Jan 7th 2008 3:55PM
If you got 4 tries for every question you ever had in school, I bet they'd end up calling you intelligent too.
Sam Zebian @ Jan 6th 2008 6:58PM
the top ones look cool, and actually look more comfortable... I'm fine with my shure's right now, but if they die, these seem like a pretty good choice.

I'd buy a set of the SHE9850 headphones (top picture) if they had an alternate version for a few dollars more that had a microphone-clicker that would work with the iPhone.
Baba Booey @ Jan 6th 2008 11:24PM
Get the super.fi 4.

for the record, i think the in-ear buds all sound pretty... flat (and not so much in the good, sonically uncolored way). I personally prefer real cans, actually the camo audio technica cans sound really nice for the price (under 60 u.s. smackaroos at audiocubes.com). to bad some ass stole them out of my bag in a crowded restaurant in manhattan with my shuffle attached, and i didn't notice, chase him down and beat him to death with them. Maybe it was the camoflauge, and i couldn't see them as said petty theif lifted them from my bag. i guess i should just rack it up under the "some jerk has a really nice gig of hiphop to listen to" column, and put it on the ol' karma board. ooh ooh, i just realized that due to their color, i'm a fashion victim. sorry for the rant. just meant to say i like cans better than buds. smarm away.
