Samsung Spinpoint A1 resurrects 1-inch microdrive format with 30, 40GB
Just when you thought the 1-inch microdrive format was dead and gone, along comes Samsung -- masters of flash memory, especially in portables -- with their own 3600RPM 30 and 40GB CompactFlash-sized (42.8 x 36.4 x 5mm) drives. Surprisingly enough, they're shipping now for $200.

So you could totally make a 40GB iPod mini????
No, this is a 1.3" Form Factor, not 1.0".
No this is 1.0", not 1.3". It will be able to fit in the iPod mini.
No, this is a 1.3 inch form factor.

ugh! Moving parts... seems so primative...
atleasts it's cheaper than the Samsung SSD.
Well, Newegg as an A-DATA 32GB compact flash card for $179 ($159 after a rebate): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211244
After a bit of searching, it looks like these 32GB CF cards usually go for over $200, so these Samsung microdrives are pretty competitively priced. But for not too much more you can get the same capacity in a much more durable form (flash memory means no moving parts), so I'm not sure what exact purpose these microdrives have. I wonder how fast they are compared to their flash counterparts.
mmmm I'd love to put that 40 gigger in my iPod mini...
40gb Nokia N91? It's possible?
They're BOTH shipping for $200?
40 GB iPod Touch?
40GB Cocker Spaniel? Oh no wait, dogs don't use 1.3inch HDD. SAME WITH THE IPOD TOUCH AND N91!!!
