You've waited for it, now you've got it. Video of LG's new
Watch Phone. Just check the scroll-action from the
Shine-like bar as we navigate through the user interface with ease. Voice or other audible prompts indicate a successful completion of each task. Bluetooth? Yup, although we didn't have the chance to test it in our haste. Not too shabby LG, not too shabby.

Thunderbuck @ Jan 6th 2008 5:10AM
You know, this looks awesome, it really does, BUT...
I'm thinking the whole thing would make more sense as a wrist-watch INTERFACE for a separate mobile phone, don't you think? I mean, with Bluetooth you could pair the watch up and do EVERYTHING this does. It would be smaller, lighter, and likely cheaper. And you wouldn't be stuck wearing the same watch all the time.
I'm just sayin'
Cash @ Jan 6th 2008 5:15AM
Talking isn't exactly Agent 47's strong suit chief. Cate Archer would be all over this though... wonder if it comes in a 60's retro motif.
theblockbuster @ Jan 8th 2008 7:34AM
Exactly, just give me a regular digital watch that has caller id and sms/voicemail notifications through bluetooth. The only one I could find only works with stupid sony phones.
thomas @ Jan 23rd 2008 8:41AM
this watch is cool.. probably will be dual-band tho as it will be for Europe market first. DigitalRise has a dual M600i phone watch with Camera built-in : http://www.gadgetgreats.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=777&HS=1 .. for those in the USA there is the D187i (no camera): http://www.chinagrabber.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1404
All this hype over i-watch? i guess after it does come out.. it will be the clone?
donnieb @ Jan 6th 2008 5:11AM
crazy
Kamil @ Jan 6th 2008 11:12PM
For those interested. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10479~r.71776144 has a touchscreen phne/watch.
Richard Lai @ Jan 6th 2008 5:11AM
For some reason it makes me think that Agent 47 would love this device.
Cash @ Jan 6th 2008 5:15AM
Woops... replied to the wrong post above.

Phil @ Jan 6th 2008 5:34AM
i cant wait to email someone on that, it looks like it will be so quick and easy *sarcasm*
and how you do call someone, you hold the watch to your face. thats just uncomfortable and youd look like an idiot
Prokanda @ Jan 6th 2008 6:01AM
Hey, HEY, now... don't dis Dick Tracy like that.
I think that devices like this one are supposed to be used with a BT headset at all times. However, if it has a decent speakerphone (which is entirely possible, given this thing's size), then I don't think it would be that bad. You hold your current phone relatively close when it's on speaker, right? The little PDA touch screen watch phone from China (I think it was anyway....) had speakerphone...
Javier @ Jan 6th 2008 12:58PM
I think thats where the Bluetooth comes in. I agree with everyone else. Give me a touch screen and make a little smaller, and we're in business. But not bad for a first try.
Jared Wolfhope @ Jan 6th 2008 4:00PM
I sorta hate cell phones but I likey this.
Sam Zebian @ Jan 6th 2008 6:20AM
I would just LOVE Dialing numbers on this thing... NOT! You've got to be crazy to use a phone watch, they need to make some really nice bluetooth watches that sync with all phones, displays caller ID and music info, along with having buttons for answering and changing music tracks/pausing the music. Sony makes a really nice one with Fossil I believe, but it says it will only work for some sony erricson phones, and I think it's about $400, which is kind of expensive. They need to make some cheaper versions too. Then I'd buy one.
Tommy @ Jan 6th 2008 6:20AM
The interface looks a bit awkward, why not a touch screen? But other than that it's the ultimate gadget ;-)
computer.dude.28 @ Jan 6th 2008 9:38AM
Imagine trying to text message on this thing.
john @ Jan 6th 2008 7:21AM
If it does bluetooth DUN, and either EVDO or HSPA, it would be the perfect companion to my Nokia N810.
Preferably HSPA with T-Mobile (once they get their s**t together and offer 3G in the US), but EVDO with Sprint would be acceptable. Though, I do have to wonder what its reception is like.
computer.dude.28 @ Jan 6th 2008 9:40AM
My phone has EVDO, it's crazy fast!!
john @ Jan 6th 2008 9:43AM
Can you wear it on your wrist?
computer.dude.28 @ Jan 6th 2008 1:11PM
no..
nathan @ Jan 7th 2008 10:51AM
Enjoy your 20mins of browsing before your watch goes dead.
reno6 @ Jan 6th 2008 8:09AM
Try dialing 911 on this thing. A touch screen will make a lot of sense.
silverblackvoid @ Jan 6th 2008 11:37AM
if u wanna poke at the little screen with a tootpick, then i guess, touchscreen would make a lot of sense.
apw76006 @ Jan 6th 2008 8:18AM
Whew! I am tired. That looked like it was a of work. It better have some hella good bluetooth capabilities.
Tvoung @ Jan 6th 2008 8:44AM
touchscreen is the way to go with these devices - they surprisingly useful!
Youtube has a bunch of reviews, you might be surprised but there are a few models avaliable to buy already - the hyundai / sms technologies / cect w100 and g100

Camperton @ Jan 6th 2008 9:03AM
Needs to be touch screen.
Bad Beaver @ Jan 6th 2008 9:23AM
I LOVE the scan line running left to right in the video. Too bad this is just an effect from filming the display. I think it would be great if we could have such effects on out mobile devices, along with some distortion and visible flicker. So geeky.
(BTW SHAME on Apple for not including the once demoed hologram-effect into iChat in Leopard)
Otherwise... this thing better have voice dialing.
Blaktornado @ Jan 6th 2008 10:31AM
This would be perfect for exams. They don't mention anything about taking watches in!
EdMercer @ Jan 6th 2008 10:45AM
Is it possible that after all these years I'll finally get an excuse to wear a watch again ? *drools*
silverblackvoid @ Jan 6th 2008 11:35AM
note to myself:
got to have one of those. somehow, anyhow.
YourTechSupport @ Jan 6th 2008 12:10PM
What I'd like to see, aside from a slightly larger roller, is not a touchscreen, but a tactile screen w/ say, nine segments on it. give it the ability to slave itself to a phone, PDA, laptop, or Acme Crime Network, and you got a deal!
lorna @ Jan 6th 2008 12:34PM
Already seen a bunch of phone like this and one in person they already have them in asia
Will Design for Food @ Jan 6th 2008 1:10PM
Ok, so it's a phone, but where is the time on this thing?
Otsego_Undead @ Jan 6th 2008 2:42PM
my thoughts exactly.. lets see the watch part and a calendar.. and of course the ubiquitous calculator.
Terrell @ Jan 9th 2008 2:32AM
ABC News showed the actual watch part of it. It was an analog clock with the black background. a white face with white red hour and minute hands and i believe a blue second hand. very cool.
Otsego_Undead @ Jan 6th 2008 2:39PM
im pretty sure you wouldnt be dialing a whole lot of numbers on this.. im sure youd be using contacts, and im sure there is some sort of quick dial for that as well. LG isn't friggin stupid. Obviously you wouldnt use this without a BT headset.. suck to have it hanging off your ear all day like most wal*mart clientele.. but you've got a watch phone, right?
Robert @ Jan 6th 2008 6:21PM
Yes i prefer the touch screen like Tedacos watch phones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5cq4LU2Qck
Engo P @ Jan 7th 2008 8:06AM
Go go gadget watch.
thecolor @ Jan 9th 2008 11:25AM
I love the scroll functionality of this watch, and (I could be wrong) but the face looks flush... that is a nice design too. I'd guess it is since it's not touch screen. now, the other companies that develop similar devices need to band together and make a sweeter watch!! :)
Remember, you guys can always get a review on those and other Cell Watches that are available and or have been purchased at the global forum http://www.mycellwatch.com
This forum seems to have been designed to encompass and discuss all Cell Phone Watches, (aka cellWatches) or (wrist communicators)
One of the most popular watches that started the forum is the M500 by SMS technology. (it's the same forum but also has a shorter url of http://www.m500.org)
Granted there has been difficulty getting that specific product, and assistance with it, the business director (Gavin) frequents the forum to chat with the users there about it, and future developments. I'd not be surprised if other companies already talk about their devices on that forum to boost the interest, (of course just don't make their self as known as Gavin does.) ;)
thecolor @ Jan 9th 2008 11:25AM
You can also discuss WiMaxWatches there using: http://www.wimaxwatch.org as well as wifi watches using: http://www.wifiwatch.org
The mbw150 is linked to this forum (still either www.mycellwatch.com) or it's name: http://www.mbw150.org
thecolor @ Jan 9th 2008 11:26AM
In addition to the cectw100 by using: http://www.cectw100.org
and the first generation of SMS Technologies M300 Watch (sibling to the M500) at http;//www.m300.org
Hope those links help you with your interest in the devices that fall under this SWEET category of wrist communicators. :)
It's like Dick Tracy, Knight Rider, Inspector Gadget, James Bond, and all the other cool movie technology gadgets have come to life!! Well, I guess they have! :)
