Thank goodness you're here -- you're just in time to witness the Slingcatcher doing it's thing in glorious, low-res video. We promise you this: when all the slinging and catching is over, you won't know what hit you.
$249? Are you crazy? First your shelling out money for the slingbox which is not that cheap, then slap an additional $249 at the customer if they want to watch it on another TV? Sorry no.
If they still plan to include the SlingStreamer (did I get that name right?) then I can see it being worth $240. It was PC software to allow the catcher to catch streams from your PC. Havent heard that much about it, but if it allows content from your PC over the network and internet then its a pretty good media extender and not just for the sling box.
Yah if it can stream video, ISO/IFO's over from a NAS or from your PC then it makes it more worth it. Otherwise $249 is a bit steep, under $200 would have been easier to swallow with no internal storage. Whats the max resolution on this thing, did they say yet? 1080i?
It's called Sling Projector. It runs on your PC. I wish the video included a demonstration of it.
From the information I can gather, it will stream anything you can play on your PC to your Sling Catcher. So if it's Itunes, Quicktime, Winamp, Youtube, Web Browser, Silverlight, and/or DRM'd video, if you can play it on the PC, you can watch it on your Slingcatcher... it will re-encode it and send it to your Slingcatcher.
Sling Projector is to the PC as Slingbox is to a DVR...
Slingbox grabs the output of your Cablebox and sends it to the Sling Player.
Sling Projector grabs the output of your media app and sends it to the Sling Catcher
This=my opinion/findings :) So take it with a grain of salt.
“That iconic Klipsch sound is here in full force, with crisp highs, delicate mids (which can easily have a bit more meat added with an EQ tweak) and tight, booming bass.”

Screw the Slingcatcher... I want some Veronica Belmont! I mean Slingcatcher.
Hello to you sweetheart.
wat did you think i was talking about.... that plastic piece of crap
That guy should have said, "does all this talk about slinging and catching make you randy, baby?"
What a cutie.

Then you have to add 30.00 if you want to watch in your mobile device. Nickel and dime people... Still I love my Slingbox.
Havent seened Veronica in a long time... Wow she looks great! I wanna go to CES just to see her.

for the rest of us, didn't Iomega already give us something to use?

Iomega should consider packing in a HDMI port, they already got composite video and coaxial s/pdif audio.
plug in external usb drives...check
divx...check
purchasing when available...check
For just playing DIVX/IFO/x.264, the Popcornhour does a great job for much less money. Also supports internal and external hard drives, NAS etc.
Video with all the applications working (including Sling Projector "projecting" a Cinema Now movie to the Slingcatcher)...

This thing kicks butt.
