All Windows Home Server devices to receive security, media streaming updates
Remember those security / media streaming / Vista x64 updates that HP's MediaSmart Server was destined to receive in the not-too-distant future? Yeah, well apparently, every other WHS device on the block will also be receiving those upgrades via Power Pack 1. However, Microsoft didn't go any further than saying that they'd be available sometime this spring through Windows Update. Huzzah?

Does this add MPEG-4 (inc. H.264) streaming support to WHS's UPnP component? That's the weakest part of the package right now, excepting the lack of Media Center backend support (which is forgivable for the moment, given WHS's non-Vista base).
The "back up to hard drive" feature sounds pretty neat, too. Wouldn't have minded optical disc support (50gb BR-D anyone?), but it's a good start. There's clearly a lot to love with WHS, and surprisingly little to hate.

I have one and I got two other people to buy the HP device. Awesome bang for the buck.
It's almost too easy to use.
I could see some things like redundant power supplies or built in 8 port hub added.
For software they should add something like sideshow for Vista. Then you could give a picture frame to grandma that you could configure to get pictures off your server.

...So if you're gonna practice your hacking on WHS, this is your 3-month notice.

Of course they are, why would they only fix some of them?

Come on...where is the comment???
"Glad I own a MAC..."

Serious? I know two people with mac's that are already asking me how to make it work with a Mac. Apple has nothing on WHS. It make Time machine look like a old and antiquated idea with a pretty face. If apple comes out with something like this I doubt it will be better but It will be white and cost twice as much.

And before you comment, I am not a MS fanboy gust a consumer who like things to work easily.
And If your not sure, Halo was the number one game last year.
