Belkin introduces DisplayPort cable
Exhilarating, we know, but it is somewhat notable that Belkin has introduced a DisplayPort cable for the emerging connector. From what we can tell, there's nothing exceptionally special about it outside of its early release, but you will be paying a pretty penny for it when it actually lands. Depending on cable length (3-, 6- or 10-feet), you'll be asked to drop $59.99 to $109.99, and you can make said purchase this April in the US or later in 2008 in Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia.

I wonder how much Monoprice or Blue Jean Cables will have them listed for...
SimbaDogg @ Jan 7th 2008 5:26PM
and...these were supposed to be cheaper than hdmi?

Just a Monster Cable-like scam. Wait till you can get an OEM cable for $10. You're not gonna get a better digital signal from gold plated superconducting fabu-wire.

Paying $60-110 for a built in DRM technology in your cable is like f****ng yourself while paying cash to the hooker. Seriously WTF are they thinking? Can someone explain why would any consumer would choose this over HDMI?
wickedpheonix @ Jan 7th 2008 5:38PM
Same reason people pay $$$ to get a HD media player when they have a SDTV.

WTF!! Did you read the post you were responding to, you fracking idiot?!

"Do a little research..."
Sorry for not reading books about TV cables, 2 days ago I think here on Engadget I read a post about Disaply-port technology and it said it was expensive, not any better than HDMI and something else. So can you explain why is i better or do you walk around with encyclopedia up your ass and just say "google before posting..." "Research before posting" and not explain yourself?

Does the $109 come with a 15 inch TFT monitor?
JTM @ Jan 7th 2008 6:37PM
Seriously. The $109 cable costs $4 to make. If you are buying this you are basically giving them $105 for nothing in return.
This is why I hate Belkin. They make some good stuff but they rape the customer when it comes to device cables.

Belking is smoking crack. Those cables cost a sweatshop worker in china maybe a dollar each. When I get a display port monitor and video card, I will get my cables online for maybe 10 bucks. And that is assuming the monitor or video card does not come with it. =)
