The U.S. is finally getting its first official DivX Connected device, now that the
D-Link DSM-330 is officially announced for release here. Due sometime in the first half of 2008, the onetime
GejBox will of course support Stage6, but as an open platform should be able to handle any codec or package thrown at it. Seamless media streaming nirvana is upon us -- at least until we find a video file that won't work with even this.

So how long is it going to take for someone to release a set-top box that supports MKV X264?
KEROLiUKAS @ Jan 7th 2008 7:55AM
This one does, with a help of a bit of transcoding..

I've been beta-testing this through the DivX Connected program and have to say it's a really, really good streaming solution. It upscales VGA Xvid to 1080p with very satisfying results. I can't wait to see the price...if it's

less than $250, they should sell very well. (my previous statement got cut of...I guess "less than" signs aren't handled well).
KEROLiUKAS @ Jan 7th 2008 9:14AM
It's 129.99 GPB in UK, so it should be 259.99 USD here

this thing is shite!!!!! The usb doesn't work, and it doesn't support 16:9 aspect ration on sdtv scart. Horrible fucking piece of kit.

i like stuff with one stubby little antenna that says it will do things in HD....that little antenna im sure will beam hd goodness all over my house...NOT...

Why is does it only support the IEEE 802.11g wireless standard and not the draft n standard? I would expect the throughput to be better using the n wireless standard. Is it because the n standard is still in a draft version?
I'll wait for a g/n version.

Hey Guys,
The box is using the DivX HD codec to send image to your TV and across your network. The pure H.264(.ts) file is using 20Mbps, but with DivX this is reduced to 6Mbps. With the decreased data rate, Wireless 11G can still be used around your home.
dj-kenpo @ Jan 7th 2008 1:27PM
259$ eh? or you could get an xbox, softmod it with xbmc all for $69 or less.
I still just can't see a use for these things compared to the way better done xbmc.
I wish every post about one of these thigns came with a "please note, there's a better alternative" disclaimer

You could get an XBOX, but for home entertainment they are kind of noisy. Definitely worth it to check out a playstation 3 - includes wireless G, 40 gig HD, DIVX support AND a blu ray drive for $399. Use it with tversity to stream from your PC (free) and you have an awesome media server.
dj-kenpo @ Jan 29th 2008 3:24PM
uhhhh, the xbox1 is less noisy than a ps3, butt hatnks for the comment that feels rater AD sponsered. the xbmc is still far better than anything xbox360 or PS3 have to offer.
did I mention it's also cheaper? buy over $300. right, I did.

The Device in discussion also claims to support Stage6. I believe this reference of support ought to be removed given recent events beginning February 25-28.
I have seen atleast 1 comment in the Labs.DivX.com discussions regarding compatibility issues with D-Link DSM330 and VISTA. I haven't used this with VISTA, since that machine I own is work related.
