Panasonic's hiding the plugs and other components in various stands and magical boxes, just like everybody else, but there's still no denying that these plasma displays are dang thin. Nothing much to say, peep the gallery below to see for yourself.
Nothing impressive here. My laptop screen is thinner. Anybody can create a thin screen and hide all the ports and power supply in a separate box. Kind of similar to the 11 inch Sony OLED screen everybody's crazy over. So I'm not at all impressed by this marketing gimmick.
Even with all this talk about advances in LCD and OLED and all that, Plasma is still the king of the hill when it comes to pure picture quality. It's nice to see Panasonic not giving in like the rest of the market and still pushing the limits of plasma even if it isn't the "cool kid on the block" like LCD.
FYI - when your RSS feed emails come out, they do not have the entire URL for the link to the photo gallerys guys - they are truncated and lack the engadget portion so they look like this:
ok i know size matters but do people want it bigger like that black one or smaller, people want it longer but with a smaller girth?.... its nice but really i think they are overdueing it
Here's an idea Panasonic, you have some of the best high-end plasma's on the market... why not work on making them CHEAPER, instead of thinner. Honestly, who needs an 50" that’s in inch thin? Sure it’s cool, but you have to sit far enough away not to notice the artifacts sooo… what’s another couple inches if I can have it in my front room instead of looking at pics of it on the Internet? :)
Oh this is just great. First it was the size wars now is the thin versus fat war. terrific! Still, Hitachi's 1.5" are more realistic these look fake like their 150" set.
I'll belive it when I see them with price$ on them at the local retailers. Hitachi's thin LCDs have more chances of that since they ARE coming this spring.

Yeah, we get it. It's 1 inch. Now how about releasing it?
Randy @ Jan 7th 2008 4:27PM
If he released it then it'd fall to the floor and break. you wouldn't want that?

Your laptop isn't 50" either. So quit being a tech-party-pooper
Navuser @ Jan 7th 2008 6:57PM
Your laptop has LCD, not Plasma/Sony's OLED.

Debate vs Argument!
It's not how "thin", it's how "thick". One inch thick. Toe-may-toe? Toe-mawt-toe.
Anyway, is there an umbilical to a media unit and power for these?
Oooooo.
umm....hello??? @ Jan 7th 2008 4:37PM
so much for Hitachi's 1.5" thick screen....

Okay, so OLED is king of the hill for picture quality. I guess I meant for a reasonable price and size, plasma reigns supreme.

I'd like a 1" thin television! Media box or not there is no denying the cool-factor!

Does it really matter if a screen is 1 inch, or 2 or 5? Seriously.
s2upid @ Jan 7th 2008 4:59PM

adrian @ Jan 7th 2008 5:08PM
