Hands-on with Sennheiser MX W1 wireless earbuds
If you've got $600 burning a hole in your regrettably flammable pockets, and if you've got a medically recognized phobia of wires, you've probably already been considering Sennheiser's MX W1 wireless earbuds. While we're not going to try to sway your purchasing decision one way or the other, we did want to share a couple shots of the beauts. You're probably most interested in the receiver and, for example, how it sizes up compared to a new iPod nano. Well, we just so happen to have some pics of precisely that, so click on through and sate your insatiable curiosity.

How secure are the earplugs?
Manh would prefer to get rid of wires, but how many times have they fell out of your ears and you were able to immediately retrieve them?!

do they also have a stand alone pager function that allows you to find them when you misplace them?
seriously, like the idea... hate the reality of losing 1.

I too am curious how secure they are. Could you run with them?
ze @ Jan 7th 2008 6:07AM
Man..that´s just a silly question...Super glue them.
Iceseven @ Jan 7th 2008 6:11AM
OK... And why would I put some Velcro-strips on the backside of my iPod Nano? When I'm tired of it and I try removing them, I'll end up with one ugly Nano that een those crazy people at Ebay wouldn't buy.
On the other hand, it would at least cover the scratches.
ERIC @ Jan 8th 2008 5:18AM
The velcro is not part of the MXW1...the transmitter secures on any mp3 player with 1 single strap that goes around the player

$160? Definitely!
$260? Possible...

$600? Definately NOT @_@

Well it's not like they have any competition. Supply and Demand.

Its really the key to a world domination plot by the Cybermen.

I was really looking forward to these. I hate getting my earbuds accidently yanked by some of the gym equipment, but at $600... I might have to convert that frustration caused by wires into energy for a few extra reps.

I wouldn't buy these until they drop the price by at least two-thirds. $200 max, and even that's pushin' it. I'd say more like $100 or $150.
Also, the receiver is just ridiculous. I have an iPod Touch, and I want a receiver that plugs into the bottom of it, something really small, and something that matches the thickness, curves, and color of the iPod so it blends in real nice.
If Kleer (along with whoever manufacturers it) can manage to accomplish those things, then we're talking. THEN I'd drop $100/$150 for them.
I just wish Apple would partner with Kleer and integrate the technology.

These would work for running IF they provided the option of adding behind-the-ear hooks that you could clip on to each of the two ear buds shown here. You've seen the behind-the-ear models with wires ... they are everywhere. Just this one option would work for the gym or outdoor running.
