Alienware was showcasing a swank new curved display here at CES, and apparently, the DLP RPTV is a must-have for gamers. Hear this: 0.02-millisecond response time. Need we really say anything more?
It's not really the equivalent of two 24" monitors. The "curve" only has a resolution of 2880 x 900. While nice, it's far short of 3840 x 1200. Does this thing count as one monitor, driven by one GFX card, or do you need a second GFX card?
Saw the same design/unit with NEC logo slapped on it at the TI booth. Looks like Dellienware just slapped their logo on it as well... so much for doing your own R+D.
Interesting thing...while walking around the HP booth at CES, I fell in love with the HP Blackbird. So I called in an order, and chatted with the Voodoo PC guys about the Curve screen. Apparently, Voodoo Labs is also working on a version similar to this. That's going to cost a house, for sure.
