uPlay touts "iPhone of golf GPS technology"
There's certainly no shortage of GPS devices out there to aid your golf game, but the folks at uPlay seem to think they've got one to beat 'em all, with them even going so far as to tout their new uPro device as the "iPhone of golf GPS technology." Exactly what earns it that designation, we're not sure, but the device will let golfers determine the distance to holes from their current location, and give them aerial photography, video flyovers, and details on course hazards, among other things. No word on a price or release date just yet, it seems, but we'd expect those details to be revealed when uPlay shows off the device at the 2008 PGA Show that gets underway in Orlando on January 16th.

Does that mean it's over priced and doesn't come with features found on every other one, even the budget ones? And does it also mean you are locked into a contract with one golf club?

Couldnt we call it the "uPutts"

Looks interesting, but get ready for the lawsuit uPlay.

They seem to hold quite a few key patents covering this sort of thing...

It still won't improve your golf game.

Yeah ironically if you need to stare at a little screen with flyovers you probably won't be winning any tournaments and that means you can't afford it, catch22 :)
incidentally, I suck at golf.

the micro letter?
Wwhat @ Jan 11th 2008 2:47AM
It's a greek letter 'mu', the twelfth of the greek alphabet.
Used as indicating one micrometre (micron)
And also used in electronics as the amplification factor of a valve it seems.

Eww... It looks like a ZUNE!

Wouldn't take much...

Looks awesome! iPhone seems to just refer to new advanced features and ease of use, based on comments from uPlay in the full article. Like you can get distances to any point on the course using the images. Can't wait to get one.
And does anyone know who uTorrent is???

They might be right, but maybe the new iPhone 3G will be the REAL THING in the very near future...
