Apple's a bit short on banners this year -- just that "There's something in the air" teaser we saw yesterday in a couple of forms -- but we've arrived in San Francisco to prep for the show, and thought we'd snap a few shots of the convention center before the Macworld 2008 attendees descend upon this place en masse.
One suggestion guys, would you please be so kind to post your live blogging of Keynote this year in reverse order so that latest comments always come at the top of the page? Second request is to brake the live blogging page into several sections? Third and last is to really make the page load faster.
Thank you all - great job at the CES - we expect nothing less on MacWorld
The page loads fast enough for me, but I agree you should add last entries to the top instead of bottom, it would be quite useful
PS. Note that I'm speaking for the rest here, I'll not be following MacWorld.. The always white-ish Apple style just doesn't go with my "dark super-macho" style :-)
...but then those of us who don't have the time/desire to sit through and refresh F5 every few minutes and want to read through it after, will have it all backwards. If you refresh the page it should automatically scroll to where you last were anyway.
I would also like REVERSE ORDER OF LIVE BLOGGING. Having to scroll down after teh page refresh is annoying. There are sites that do it in reverse order, but Engadget does it then i won't need to seek them out.
For the 'dark-is-macho' man: You know that Apple makes their 'white-ish' stuff in black too, right? (A lot of the rest of their stuff is brushed metal-ish).
@roole: Yes I know, even certain iProduct is black-only. But I meant the "feel", not the color itself..
With a Mac I feel like I'm just another good person, not the space pirate I want to be when I grow up >-D
What, you can dream..
And for those who don't like "last at the top": just think of it as a changelog... when you read the change log of your favorite software you scroll upwards, not a big deal
Also, if they start off the top, when you read the main page all you will see is "we are here with our asses in the cold waiting for it to start"
On the other side, if they start off the bottom, you will see from the main page what's going on that moment
If you guys didn't figure it out yet, it's suggestive marketing for a very light (hence floating) MacBook. They are marketing this new flash MacBook as "light", and not skinny etc. It's the weight of it they seem to really want to let us know about.
Wow! Ground Zero for the most important event for the year. It's gonna be dangerous when Stevie Appleseed drops the "and one more thing" bomb this year. KerPow. Behold the MacBook Slim with WiMax. Let there be a million sold in a month. And the word shall be spread among the multitudes. Amen I say to thee. Stevie hath spoken.
Engadget you also have to fix this crazy problem with the comments..
I'm posting this with the hope that after posting, all the comments will appear.. I tried everything, deleting the cache, the cookies, all the temporal files, restarting my PC (even though I know it has nothing to do :-P ) but this thread still shows "28 comments" but only displays the same 5 as the first time I viewed it
Go back to the old "without avatar" comments if necesary
Lack of banners? Could it be that, because, ummmmm..... you arrived like 3 days before even MacRumors people and they obviously haven't had time to roll out the red carpet yet? Patience people - soon His Jobsness will release another product so simple it makes everyone else look stupid so that all the smart people can rejoice and follow in His footsteps...
*gurgles like one of the Resident Evil zombies*....
I wonder if "Something in the air" means something or maybe el jobso is just talking about the crap polluted air in SF... lol
I have a theory- maybe birds will be the next theme for OS X. Maybe like OS X 10.6 PHEONIX instead of 10.6 PUSSY or something (o wait bad pussy example...10.6 lion)
Hmm id like to see all the Apple stuff from Macworld 08 on TUAW's site, since this would keep the regular trolls here off the comments since they don't read TUAW.
How about the Apple TV done right - with a Digital TV receiver and a cable input option (twin/quad tuners), and HDMI, Component, DVI, VGA and S-Video output to your favorite display device. A 250/500GB/1TB hard disk, Blu-ray & DVD drive, revamped front row, and a subscription movie rental service via iTunes.
The device would also allow you to stream any video from it to a Mac on your local LAN, so you can watch the shows you have recorded anywhere in your house. Extra points if it can stream direct from the 'air' or DVD to another Mac so I do not need to use EyeTV in the bedroom.
Would I pay up to $599 or more for this - probably. Let me dock an iPod or iPhone to it, or upgrade it or make backups with an external firewire drive, then Steve could get me to part with even more.
And now I'll make the same dare/suggestion that I made to you guys last year. I dare you guys to ask questions. Or point out stuff when he says something is new and revolutionary and it isn't. If you do I'll give you cake or something.

Man, those signs are pretty small, i would've expected a bigger deal, maby something on the outside of moscone.
Jason Cox @ Jan 12th 2008 7:26PM
That font on the 'something in the air' signs reminds me of Segoe UI...
John @ Jan 12th 2008 10:31PM
That's because Segoe UI is a ripoff of Myriad, which is a ripoff of Frutiger.
It's previously been determined that the "There's something in the air." typeface is indeed Myriad Light.
Thanks for playing!

So, is "There's something in the air" going to be an obscure hint towards some wireless technology?
Or Pod docks being installed in the armrests of an airline's seats?
Or the unveiling of iSmell?
The Grand Master @ Jan 12th 2008 8:14PM
My money is on iSmell.

one does wonder! too bad we can't read about it here... perhaps the editors are afraid of the inevitable accusations of pro-apple bias?

He's trying to highlight the MacBookAir listed under computer types using AdiumX. AppleTV is there also.
Constable Odo @ Jan 12th 2008 8:45PM
Apple iPod Nano Bluetooth built into every pair of Nike Air Jordan sneakers. Well, that could be the something in the Air.
Seems more likely than a hot air powered MacBook Slim or the rumored Apple Blimp.
Dylan K @ Jan 12th 2008 8:54PM
There's something in the air, and it stinks.
freakmarket @ Jan 12th 2008 9:13PM
I am not a fan of Apple mainly because they price gouge compared to other PC makers but it's always cool to see what they have up their sleeves.
