Yep, we know there are a ton of you who want us to liveblog our keynotes in reverse chronological order (i.e. latest updates at the top, earliest updates at the bottom), and not how we normally do it, where you read from top to bottom like everything else. So we're putting it to the vote -- do you want our updates in order, top to bottom, as usual? Or would you prefer them close to the top of the keynote page? (We'll probably go back later and reorder everything for the latecomers, if so.) Let us know, we aim to please.
Oh, and don't forget,
Steve's Macworld 2008 keynote goes down here.

keep it bottom! Some of us have events and have to miss the liveblogging. When we get home, we would like to scroll down reading it, like traditional articles.
CUBSWILLWIN @ Jan 13th 2008 5:46PM
actually, scratch that. Give us two options when we hit the keynote page. I aim to please also.
Ryan Block @ Jan 13th 2008 5:47PM
We'll probably reorder it later if people choose bottom to top.
Ghen @ Jan 13th 2008 5:54PM
So basically liveblog it bottom to top, and then switcheroo once its complete? I like that idea and would like to vote for it :P
I don't read any of the livebloggings until they're finished anyway.
Ryan Wagner @ Jan 13th 2008 5:57PM
I like the idea of live blogging it with the newest stuff at top, and then afterward switch it around.
CUBSWILLWIN @ Jan 13th 2008 5:59PM
Ryan, I AM GLAD! that someone like you is editor in chief of Engadget! So smart, man! So smart
John @ Jan 13th 2008 6:06PM
the live at top then switching is a great idea!
sometimes with autoreload on it sticks to the same height of the page, so i'll go off doing something else and never notice that something new was just announced
Nomi @ Jan 13th 2008 6:58PM
Don't mind the new way, but I would still like oldest to newest since I'll probably be busy during the keynote. Anything is still better than Gizmodo where they have a new post for every 5 mins of the keynote
CUBSWILLWIN @ Jan 13th 2008 7:01PM
stop spamming my inbox!!! AHHHH! too many, too many......
Austin @ Jan 13th 2008 7:13PM
one must consider the unfortunate collateral of "first post", friend.
TheWakeUpCall @ Jan 13th 2008 7:43PM
EVERYONE COMMENT CUBSWILLWIN!
ps I would like the latest at top, then if possible switched around after, would be good.
Mike Jenkins @ Jan 13th 2008 8:25PM
It's kinda pointless to have new updates at the top because you read down to where the new updates are, then as new updates appear you just refresh your page and it takes you back to the exact same spot you were on before you hit refresh. Why have to scroll down then read up, which isn't how people read naturally?
Neebs @ Jan 13th 2008 8:35PM
Cubs, never, ever, say you are getting spammed.

David Garrett @ Jan 13th 2008 10:06PM
Newest at top.
cereal @ Jan 13th 2008 10:57PM
How about you mix it up?
Like have the times in this order 4:50 PM, 5:04 PM, 4:56 PM, 4:52 PM, 4:42 PM, 5:09 PM. So you have to look and order it yourself!
JJ @ Jan 13th 2008 11:13PM
Sorry man!
It was too tempting!
Make sure to un-click next time!
robert @ Jan 14th 2008 1:18AM
i like the new stuff at the top
still sdh @ Jan 14th 2008 7:13AM
Agreed! It's a huge spoiler for us who can't be there from the beginning if you update topside. I'd definitely find another live coverage in that case.
eatmoreramen @ Jan 13th 2008 5:46PM
Bottom please!
Too much of a hassle to scroll UP to read
Lazerface @ Jan 13th 2008 8:06PM
you could just hit the page up key a couple times, or the home key once. you know, that key on your keyboard you almost never use..
Adam B @ Jan 13th 2008 5:46PM
New updates at the top. That way when I'm on my phone I don't have to scroll all the way down.
Kris @ Jan 13th 2008 5:48PM
I think it's best to do it from top to bottom (newest at the top, obviously) but once the Keynote is finished, reverse it to the correct early to end order.
Anthony @ Jan 13th 2008 5:50PM
I guess it doesn't matter, I'm going to read it in chronological order regardless of how you do it. So it will basically just make me start from the top or bottom. No big deal for me.
Eh @ Jan 13th 2008 5:54PM
Keep the most important updates at the top. Or bolded. Or pink. You know, so I dont have to read about how many iPhones or iTunes songs Apple has sold.
Seth Porter @ Jan 13th 2008 10:13PM
I'm just going to have to find a way to get away with reading the blog in my math class. It'll be easier if i don't have to flick my finger up and down for half a mile each time i refresh.
Chuck B. @ Jan 13th 2008 5:55PM
New at the bottom is a nice flow, I'd donate $5 into a pot to have the keynote play-by-play be a ad-free page... ah a man can dream.
Cycomachead @ Jan 14th 2008 12:03AM
use m.engadget.com
it's supposed to be for phones, but wtheck it works anyways.
ethana2 @ Jan 14th 2008 7:54AM
Ads are fine; they're great, and they're helpful. I see no point to removing them from the page. If it weren't for ads I wouldn't know about system76 or emperorlinux or some other great businesses like that.
...unless you mean the intrusive, worthless, bandwidth consuming ones I don't see anyway. Animation? FAIL. I pay too dearly for this internet connection to waste it on things not at all relevant to my life. Microsoft products? Again, FAIL.
If the ad is helpful, I click on it, look around the site, and if its what I'm looking for, I remember it to buy something later. That's the point of ads, right?
mabedan @ Jan 13th 2008 5:58PM
hahahaaa
really nice of you to ask that lol cuz each time i refresh the page to see the new ones, it takes a century to scroll down and see the updates
Ed @ Jan 13th 2008 6:32PM
Then get a better browser. Most browsers automatically scroll to the same height as before the refresh, so you don't have to scroll down. I believe that at least Safari, Firefox and Camino do this.
Mabedan @ Jan 13th 2008 6:37PM
safari does this, but after reloading all the page's contents, which takes a lots of time
Mike P. @ Jan 13th 2008 6:57PM
Same with Firefox. Re-scrolls only after all the content is loaded... and, thanks to "ar.atwola", that takes forever.
KR @ Jan 13th 2008 5:59PM
I like the standard/traditional/old way. It makes it easy to see new updates (the page jumps down to where you left off when you hit refresh), and it also makes it easy to go back a little bit to see the pics as they update.
Nomi @ Jan 13th 2008 6:55PM
It only does that after everything has already loaded...
Aayush Arya @ Jan 13th 2008 6:01PM
Hello! :)
I see that bottom-to-top is winning in the poll, like it should. We have slow connections in India and it would be a relief if I didn't have to reload the whole page again and again. If the newest updates are at the top, I can stop the loading once the unread ones are loaded.
So, basically, please do it bottom-to-top and then reverse it later.
Thank you! :)
form222 @ Jan 13th 2008 6:02PM
I imagine there would be some selection bias in this survey. Those casual readers who would be confused by a "top to bottom" layout are unlikely to vote in the poll. The die hard users clicking refresh every 2 seconds however are likely to vote.
Geoff @ Jan 14th 2008 7:18AM
On the other hand, the people who are "confused" probably won't care either way, whereas the diehard proponents will finally be satisfied.
KC @ Jan 13th 2008 6:08PM
I don't care. Keep it top to bottom like everything else. BUT get a decent camera, not the POS cameras that were used at CES.
Matt Warren @ Jan 13th 2008 6:10PM
New stuff at top. I nearly wore out my scroll wheel last time. And image load/page reformat is a pain while you are trying to catch up.
rndmnme @ Jan 13th 2008 6:13PM
Whatever way appeases the iTards.
The windows people don't care because we have the "scroll" function.
iofthestorm @ Jan 13th 2008 7:08PM
Hooray for decent mice bundled with computers!
Nate @ Jan 13th 2008 7:10PM
are you serious? I have been scrolling on my mac for years
iPriest @ Jan 13th 2008 7:55PM
I think you mean "troll function"
rndmnme @ Jan 13th 2008 8:45PM
The troll function is a built in MacApp. It's the equivolent to Microsoft Bob, except Gates killed that years ago, Stevey let's you guys live.
huh @ Jan 13th 2008 6:13PM
Oldest to newest is the only sensible way to go, you can always go to http://www.engadget.com/#end and scroll up a bit.
eg
http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/13/poll-how-do-you-want-us-to-write-the-jobsnote-top-to-bottom-o#end
good ol' html.
huh @ Jan 13th 2008 6:15PM
comment mangled by engadget/bloghype "markup."
Let's try this...
http://www.engadget.com/[story path]#end
Ross @ Jan 13th 2008 6:14PM
How about:
oldest
Kinda old
Not quit so new
Newest
Almost newest
Somewhat old
Almost old
Or
Oldest to newest, but have the newest item also displayed at the top, or two columns one side of screen top down other bottom up...
Reader @ Jan 13th 2008 8:10PM
Or organized by how much we care, for example:
iPhone 2.0
New Mac Tablet
...
...
iPod firmware update
...
...
New Griffin iPod dock
DopestGingah @ Jan 13th 2008 8:39PM
@Reader
Since when has an iPod firmware update been important?
Reader @ Jan 13th 2008 9:03PM
Not to me, that's for sure, but tons more than another iPod dock.
