Poll: How do you want us to write the Jobsnote? Top to bottom, or vice versa?

Oh, and don't forget, Steve's Macworld 2008 keynote goes down here.

| Meh, I don't care. |

A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
If you guys do, in fact, put new posts at the bottom, you should put an anchor right above the new stuff, so when I refresh the page with #anchor in the URL, it will just scroll right to it.
how's about live video! YEAH!!!
Newest at the top!
An RSS feed would be kind of nice with each update. That way we wouldn't need to reload the page and then we could also sort it in any order we wish.
Keep it how ir was, I like the suspence as I read down. If updates are at the top, latecomers will have their fun spoiled.
Do it anyway you like just promise to keep your stupid girlfriend out of any MacWorld "reporting" so she doesn't ruin it like CES's coverage or lack thereof.
Now really, is that a nice way to talk about Ryan Block's girlfriend?
First of all I don't really care, because I have no interest in Jobs keynote speech. I would vote for the "I don't care" option, but I have objections to anything that uses the "word" "meh".
here is how you should cover macworld
like every other bunch of douche bag fucking loser macfans who overpay for things and follow Steve jobs and his old outdated technology as if he is releasing the next coming of Christ.
cover it like this:
don't
every fucking blog full of losers will be covering it, be different....change things up, tell people of the things that matter. not just macworld.
Top to bottom then reverse them... THANKS!!
i guess it is pretty clear that the latest at the top :D
new updates at top please
yay! snow day tomorrow! meaning no school, meaning I can read the keynote and learn about new products immediately! and yea, newest on top please. Even though the browser returns to the section I was at when I press reload, it take so dang long to load the page that I would have to scroll to the bottom anyways! So even if the browser does return to the previous section, you need to wait for the page to finish loading (wait for pictures to load), UNTIL the browser actually redirects to that section. So that argument is mute (yes, I'm talking to you Mr. Jenkins.)
Do whatever you want, just keep the RSS the way it normally is.
That way Im not effected :)
Please keep the way it was. While it is nice when your constantly updating to not scroll all the way to the bottom, it would spoil the surprise for anyone who reads it after the keynote. Maybe, provide a link for both (if it's not too much work)
Why not do BOTH on the SAME page. Just like the mirror image you have for this poll. And readers can choose to read whichever way they like.
Oh, please do it bottom to top, with the latest posts at the top. I keep your site open on my second monitor and glance at it as the keynote progresses, so after each refresh would appreciate seeing the latest news at the top of the page. Either way, I can't wait.
Newest at the top please.
engadget is so awesome, you guys trueley rock to care about what is most convenient for us. thank you
No spoiling! Updates to the bottom, so that people that read it once every 5 minutes will not have to zig-zag read.
make sure to keep m.engadget.com working well
new at the top for that. I need to be efficent during school! ;-) ;-)
thanx guys!
newest at bottom please
Do it the way all the other sites that have had live coverage of Stevenotes since the late 90's. Either way, it doesn't matter to me, I wont be watching Engadget. Had the MacRumors Keynote page bookmarked for years.
Even better, it would be nice to go back to the days of live streaming video.
Hey guys use this site:
http://www.coveritlive.com/
Its a live blogging site like thing.
Best regards zcollvee from http://thedailytech.wordpress.com
And I love what you'll do
Top all the way!!!
Top all the way!!!
I'll be getting my fix from a more elegant, less ad-heavy source.
i would say vice versa... latest updates on top... but when the whole keynote is done, make it top to bottom where last update is on bottom.
ha to bad people are so lazy ;) (blink blink) I think both systems are good ennough to see a new Ipomophone hype
AJAX please.
Both the comments and the text should be in scrolling regions that autorefresh and autoscroll. Then you can do the liveblog in order without making it hard for people to read.
The AJAX page could be a separate page so that people with limited browsers (mobile phones) can just get the standard static page.
You have 1 day left to implement the AJAX side. Go! ;-)
Ok, failing that, oldest first, because you add pictures as you go and that way I see them when scrolling past.
New updates where ever you like... just turn off the comments! We don't need to see ten thousands "whoots". :)
Put the new ones at the top BUT as soon as it is done. Switch it up so you can read it smoothly, but when it's live, new stuff at the top
HEY GUYS! I have the solution here!
Keep it top during the keynote and THEN, once it's ends, keep it bottom so people who were away can read it as a normal article!
right? :D
New updates should totally be at the top. I wouldn't mind the bottom so much, but there are always comments, so I end up having to scroll somewhere middle(ish) to see the latest updates.
Oh c'mon guys, it's impossible to read with recent-on-top. Don't make it harder to keep track of what a reader has and hasn't already seen.
THANK YOU. My lunch hour on Keynote Day is always spent at some local restaurant with a Wi-Fi hotspot, watching Engadget's liveblog refresh. Having to wait for the whole page to load before my browser jumps down to the latest content is a pain ... not to mention if a single ad fails to load, then I have to scroll through several pages after each refresh to get to the latest content.
LATEST UPDATES AT THE TOP FTW! Reverse the order afterwards for posterity.
Why not use CoverIt Live at http://www.coveritlive.com/
This might make it easier for all and it's free.
Can't you do it both ways via some coding? One url spits out the posts in one direction and the other spits them out in another direction. I'm not much of a developer but it doesn't seem like that big of a challenge.
After being nearly beaten to death by the BSD mailing list for once (in my newbieness) top-posting I'm going to have to vote for top to bottom least my post-traumatic stress disorder be triggered.
I like to read stuff in a natural reading order. There is nothing natural about reading a paragraph downward, and then scrolling UP to read downward from the top of the next. All that up and down is a huge waste of time. The whole bottom-to-top thing is especially hard on people who start reading before it's over, but not at the start, as they are too soon to have it reversed, but too late to simply keep refreshing at the very top of the page.
Oldest first. Makes for an easier read.
Left to right, please.
Newest at top please ... I need to do real work while I watch this so no time to constantly scroll and find my spot again!!
Later you can reverse it.
Since it's going to be bottom to top, I won't be following Engadget's coverage. I won't be able to refresh every 15 seconds, and I don't want to receive the news out of order.
Le sigh.
Whats a brotha gotta do to get an RSS feed of just the keynote?
Newest at top fine but it woud be great if those big static images at top could be removed so that one could see latest post "above the fold" whithout having to scroll down. In that way all I would need to do is refresh to see latest stuff.
