those are all web apps, iphone biggest news last year, biggest disappointment this year, 1.1.2 jailbreak for me till they crack the egg open on the new one.
Same I agree I love my hacked cool looking iPhone. I'm gonna wait till they can make the background something more than just black.

Does it break ringtones?
Nope - my custom ones still lived. Of course, mine isn't jail broken.
will I lose my custom ctu ringtone? that's all I want to know...that'll be a deal breaker for me
I can confirm. This does not break custom ringtones. I just installed and called my cell from my work phone. All is good. My phone is not jailbroken so I can't confirm that. But ringtones are good to go!!!
check to see if they're still there, I remember when we first had them and then they took them away, I still had mine until I checked the settings and then they went away.
I have resynched a few times. Unplugged it. Plugged it back in. Synched again. Checked my settings. They are still there. I have switched between custom ringtones and called it and they still work. No issues at all.
I wonder how they'll do it for the iPod touch - do you have to go to an Apple Store and download/pay it there, or can use just use iTunes?

So, is the Google Maps cell tower triangulation in there? Is it cool and kind of like GPS?
I got a message that my location could not be found :(
I live 10 mins. north of a major metro. area too... I guess not enough towers to triangulate.
Wow! I live/work 20 miles north of Boston... what good is cell tower triangulation if it doesn't form some.. triangle.. somewhere! Really, if this feature only works in cities what good is it to the rest of us who aren't on the "grid?!" :(

I just tried the update on my never been jailbreaked phone and it is now bricked. the update failed and the restore also is not working.

Tried restore mode? If so and that doesn't work. I have 1 word for you (kind of). LOL!
if it has an x on the icon its a web app, personally i never found one useful, the shortcut to the main screen is a nice add, but so what, 1.1.3 means nothing to me with out at least video recording.. which in that case is why i still have a jailbroken phone because and awaiting drunknbass's video app as promised after macworld... fingers crossed and paypal all ready fired up
Update worked fine on the first try for me. No data loss, custom ringtones still work. Sucks people are having trouble. =[

Got it working here...Pseudo GPS is major disappointment in terms of accuracy...wont be replacing ur GPS unit, but its still an improvement over nothing at all. And still no picture messaging option....Whats the deal????

i actually did notice that playing a song in the ipod seemed more clear, and my ringtone sounds better...
i wonder if it's true, or i've just convinced myself that there is some sort of improvement. haha.
What? No T-Mobile signal logo? Come on... its Engadget/Tuaw. You should at least have something like an installer showing! 1337 h@x0r signs!
This is also out on the Touch, but i've not been able to move the widgets around. Also, the dock now looks exactly like the iPhone's one.
Where are the lyrics features? Anyone see this?

i sure was hoping for a better battery meter on this update.
my old SE had a fantastic meter that showed actual %.
only thing i miss about that dumb phone...
As an iPhone user with a jailbroken phone, I believe it is Extended Preferences which you can download that gives you that ability. You just tap the battery and it shows you the % remaining.
