PSP / PS2 hacked to support Bluetooth headsets
We're still rocking a first-gen PSP, so we're not too broken up over headphone wires, but now that the PSP Slim can output game video to a TV, this little Bluetooth hack by N3M515 over at Instructables is just the ticket -- and it'll add in some wireless action to your PS2 in the deal. Basically you'll need to sacrifice a PS2 headset adapter, a Bluetooth transmitter / receiver kit, and some basic soldering skills, but when you're done you'll be ready to frag out headset-style -- and it'll even work with PS2 games on the PS3. Check it all out at the read link.

Thats not a hack, thats a kludge.
Frankenstein Black @ Jan 16th 2008 11:56AM
kludge? That’s putting it mildly. It’s more like an abomination! So tell me why this much smaller device (with no wires) wouldn't work better. Warning, PDF manual link.

it's N3M3515, not "N3M515".
James @ Jan 16th 2008 11:27AM
Doesn't that defeat the point of bluetooth in the first place? Bluetooth is useful because it's built into a device.
wickedpheonix @ Jan 16th 2008 11:29AM
You'll need to sacrifice some soldering skills?
WTF?

What's next--a PSP bluetooth controller?
Ryan Trevisol @ Jan 16th 2008 2:05PM
Hey I'd much rather carry around another half pound of precarious kit in my pocket than use those dang wired headphones. How will your peeps know you're a gangsta if you have wires coming from your ears?
Matt @ Jan 16th 2008 2:14PM
Shane-o-mak needs a new name.
ark_v2 @ Jan 16th 2008 2:15PM
So much bulk that I prefer the cables.
Carbonize @ Jan 16th 2008 3:30PM
Wow ugly hack. And this guy seems to have a serious identity problem.

My name is 0M1N0U5, and N3M515 stole my H4X0RZ!
Ollie @ Jan 16th 2008 7:38PM
Mmmm, a complicated hack with multiple connections, wires and adapters working together and adding bulk or 3ft of wire going stright from your PSP to your ears?
I know which one I'd choose..
That's right, I'd choose to keep my dignity and not buy a PSP.
SteveMB @ Jan 16th 2008 10:50PM
You've never heard of homebrew, have you?
Lee Gibson @ Jan 16th 2008 11:07PM
See, if I brewed a batch of homebrew beer, and tasted it, and it tasted like paint thinner, I would a) throw it out, and b) refrain from posting about it on the Internet, except to maybe tell people how not to do that.
If your idea of homebrew is an abortion made of wires in order to make something wireless, go ahead and don't try to tell the universe.
Let this be a lesson to you, Shane-O-Mak.
boutch55555 @ Jan 16th 2008 11:54PM
someone from Acidmods made it internally by removing the umd drive some time ago...
that is a hack

So this is done by turning a ps2 headset into a N64 VRU clone? (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/149/422369106_2cecc171e4.jpg)

"If your idea of homebrew is an abortion made of wires in order to make something wireless, go ahead and don't try to tell the universe."
The HOMEBREW he was referring to are APPLICATIONS FOR THE PSP(it was in regards to the guy who posted "That's right, I'd choose to keep my dignity and not buy a PSP.") Sorry to burst your bubble but the post you probably feel was so very clever was, in reality, an ignorant comment. He was calling this setup homebrew. DUH.
BTW-this is the dumbest "hack" I have ever seen
