2408WFP monitor is up and dancing on Dell's US page. $748 buys into a 1,900 x 1,200 resolution, 178-degree viewing angle, 1,300:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 6-ms response, and 102% color gamut. Standard stuff until you get to the vast suite of jacks: HDMI, 2x DVI, DisplayPort, VGA, Composite, S-Video, Component, a single USB upstream, and 2x USB downstream. Just another reason why Round Rock, Tejas is the world's focal point for computer monitors. Who'd have thunk?

What?! Last I checked, 1920x1200 surpasses "real" 1920x1080 HD...
It's not a TV if you cannot connect an antenna to it. It has no tuner so it is a monitor.
I wonder who actually makes it. Dell subs out most of its components. I am an NEC guy myself. I have loved their monitors for 18 years. My first 15 inch Syncmaster is an awesome display. I still use it for 720P in my office.
Does the card reader do SDHC now? That is the one limitation (well, besides only 1 digital in) of my 2407.
What a piece of crap. $700+? Go buy the Acer with gloss screen, the exact same panel, HDMI, and 2ms response time! Oh and did I meniton it's under $500?
Um, yeah and it's a TN panel, which means crappy colors, viewing angle and contrast compared to this, which is likely a PVA screen. Might want to learn something about display technologies before recommending **** like that above a real monitor.

It has been asked many times, but I will ask again....What type of panel is it? Does it still use the Samsung LTM240CS or is it different? For those that claim it is a PVA, where did you find this info? Perhaps I am hoping invain for an S-IPS like it's 30 inch big brother.

I ordered it on the night of 1/16 when that link was posted, and they cancelled it today, 1/18, trying to sell me the 2407. So it's not officially available yet, but they are just getting ready. They told me to come back and order it when it is officially out.
No wonder my order hasn't gone anywhere yet!

They did not cancel and sent me several emails confirming my 2408 shipment and dhl info for its delivery.
Today a 2407 arrived.

Same scenario as morbizz. Ordered 2408, got 2407 with no email asking if that was what I wanted. Idiots!
Followup. After numerous calls and applying pressure to Dell... and requesting equivalent functionality ...alla their license terms...meaning "ship my 2408 or replace with an 3008fpw", LOL.
Dell has given me a $75 off coupon. Committed to retuning my existing order and doing a replacement swap (not a new order.. .don't want that as the price may go up) for the 2408fpw when it becomes available in 3 to 4 weeks.
Time will tell ????
