I don't get it.. mp3 player + paper + scotch tape = e-paper?
Chebwa @ Jan 17th 2008 3:47PM
The e-paper thing is lost on me, too... I get it even less the second time.
Froggy @ Jan 17th 2008 4:13PM
they weren't even trying with that one...
monkfishbandana @ Jan 17th 2008 2:59PM
It's an MP3 player, not an e-paper display! Headphone port on the side, control buttons at the back! Engadget, stop giving people inaccurate information!
BrianB @ Jan 17th 2008 3:33PM
Inaccurate but way funny.
Derbeste @ Jan 17th 2008 3:35PM
Can you tape a pic of Doom to it?
Accurately?
Taylor @ Jan 17th 2008 4:30PM
They're not saying it IS an e-paper display, they're saying that because the manafacturers didn't even bother to put a screen on it but just put a piece of paper to demonstrate what the LCD *would* look like, it's effectively an LCD piece of paper - e-paper
Neoprimal @ Jan 17th 2008 5:46PM
I really don't know where or why Engadget keeps referring to it as epaper. I suppose to incite jokes and to make it an actual 'crapgadget'.
I don't know why WMV is on the back, it's not difficult to assume the makers will be slapping a lcd screen on it sometime soon. It's been around for quite a while, mostly aimed at companies that will buy them in high quantity and print logo/contact info/etc. on them.

blatent media crap, this thing is a MP3 player as already pointed out, and someone not the manufacturer (but very possibly engadget!) has stuck paper on it and engadget is mis-informing everyone and reporting crap, me thinks the winner of crapgadget should be engadget for this shameless explotation of a genuine product, maybe not the best a CES but a product non the less! not the lie your telling.
lancerdud @ Jan 17th 2008 3:24PM
What do you mean mp3 player? What do you mean actual paper?
Dang!!! This is the best e-paper I have ever seen. Just look at the design, the close-to-reality rendering of the image. Look at the high contrast ratio. It beats all available technology to date.
Obviously, this is no crapgadget. I'm really wondering why this has been voted at the top when what we're looking at is a true masterpiece.
Eric H @ Jan 17th 2008 3:55PM
If its just a regular mp3 player why does the other side live video support?

The gadgets are a little underwhelming, but the engadget jokes are worse, or if they're not jokes they are just misleading or completely incorrect. Nice try guys... actually, no, it wasn't even a nice try.
Kiteless @ Jan 17th 2008 5:10PM
w00t! That is the one that I voted for. I can't wait for those to come out! I think it is going to be way better than my Sony PRS-505. It's color too!

Am I the only one that thought this was a rubber spatula head with screws and tiny carved out circles to pass as buttons? http://images.orgill.com/200x200/6475115.jpg
