Sony Ericsson set to release the K850 Quicksilver black edition?

Apparently one of Sony Ericsson's flagship products, the K850 is getting refit in a more business oriented shade, silver and black. The current lineup features both Luminous Green and Velvet Blue -- both rather sharp-looking in our opinion -- may benefit from a color overhaul. Nothing changing in the specs here, just the housing, but we'll take what we can get when it comes to handsets in the US 3G spectrum. No word on pricing or availability, we'll just have to wait until when -- or if -- they announce it.

Why did sony ericsson k850 quicksilver not came to norway? :o
Maybe they'll update the firmware too. Photos are great (much better/faster than N95) but media playback is a real pain. Flipping through more than 20 or 30 albums is very slow. While the layout is nice (PSP style) the sluggishness is a real problem. Forget 8gb micro cards. You really pay the price.
Well i dont know where did you find that it takes better pictures than N95 and for me N95 8GB has taken as quick pics as k850i. If you want the camera phone king dont looks further than N82.
Thought k850i had major problems at the start so it was a short of a flop, but it's damn good phone now after updates so dont totally trust on those first reviews there are about k850i(it's not like N95 classic was perfect with the first fw ;)).
You can't be serious - the N82?
It's a gigantic, hideous, silver turd.
Anyway, on-topic - over on se-nse, the consensus seems to be that this was a pre-production model.
As for the current two colours, they're fine so long as you get the versions with the blacks sides with the coloured line, the silver sides are a little horrible.
=) It looks horrible yes, but it's best !camera! phone there is right now.
It's not though. If any one phone stands out as being the best camera phone on the market, it's the Samsung G800 (which, strangely enough, also fits my description of the N82...).
That's just down to the optical zoom though, beyond that there are differences between the 5mp models but that doesn't make one better than the other, just different.
I direct you to this comparison of 5 of the 5pm camera phones. Where the N82 is the winner.

*5MP cameras. The samsung was rated the worst almost.
Also to cut to the chase and for people that don't want to go to the website:
Overall Ratings and Conclusion:
In each of the categories we gave all six phones a different rating. The first place brings 6 points, 5 points for the second place, 4 points for third etc.
1. N82: With very good performance during the day, the best in night scenes, and excellent flash performance, the N82 is the winner in our competition for 5-megapixel cameraphones. Additionally it also has a very good macro mode!
2. G600: Although it has smaller model number than the G800, the G600 is the best phone for shooting during the day and has a good overall image quality.
3. K850: While we are not really fans of the Sony Ericsson phone, its overall quality is good, compared to the competition.
4. N95 8GB: The N95 is good during the day, but it’s ridiculous that it turns the focus off in night mode, and the LED flash performs poorly.
5. G800: The G800 is very good during the day as well, also with optical zoom, but its overall performance doesn’t place it in the winners’ circle.
6. Viewty: Although the LG Viewty has lots of options and features, its camera quality is mediocre next to the competition.
Aye n82 has performed just like it should and i have been using it as every day phone for me it even wins my n95 8gb, but then it's all about what you are looking from a mobile. It's actually kinda wierd that SE cant perform better with their cameras thought their lower end camera phones are still one the best. It's same with walkman nothing else than a brand.
dont forget nokia's awesome video. se smell smoke there
Well, the reviews are interesting enough to read but having used the K850, N95, N82 and G800, I personally don't feel there's anything to choose between them apart from the zoom.
They all pale in comparison to any proper camera, even my ancient 3mp P'n'S one.
At the end of the day, reviews are little more than personal preference - trying to choose between the 5mp camera-phones is like trying to choose between Nikon and Canon. Some people will prefer one, othrs will prefer the other alternative and some of us can see the pros and cons of both and don't really have a preference.
It looks a cool mobile, however I had some problems with my Sony Ericsson K610i. The problem was that I used it as a Mp3 player so I would save space in my pockets, you know less things to carry, but the place where u put the head phone was getting loose which by the way was the same place for my charger...
As I said looks a great phone but I dont know if I would have another Sony Ericsson.

the K850i is not a better camera then the n95 except for software and colours(n95 colours are not as real as the sony). sony decided details were more important then color. the sony pics give true colours and the 95 sacrifice detail to improve colour quality on each shot. nokia are not in the business to make cameras and do not have sony like camera software.
there is a firmware update but it has not been released yet for the unlocked phones just the carrier phones.
Maybe the N95-3 got their act together, but my N95's camera took a heck of a lot longer to take photos. The SE is much faster, but video is worse.
Also- the N95's media player can't remember where you are in a song when you stop listening & then go back. This is a real deal breaker for me since I use my phone for podcasts. I don't want to start over on a 30-50 minute podcast every time.
nokia have a podcast player also.
Have a look at the blog now - I've updated it with exclusive live photos ;)
pricing would the same as previous. its just a new colour.
To anyone looking to buy the K850, have a good look in the phone forums and see the kinds of problems people are having with this phone. Its been four months since its release and its still an extremely buggy phone. I cant stress enough how buggy this phone is.
Good advice but it's also worth remembering the fact the only people who have problems go around posting on fora.
The people who don't have any problems don't sit around posting about how everything's fine with their phone.
Have just received more high quality pics... check it out at http://www.cellpassion.com/Default2.asp?id=391
