Feeling regretful? Downgrade to that v1.1.3 iPhone / iPod touch
Maybe you got word that the iPhone development community supposedly has a jailbreak method for v1.1.3 -- but they're not releasing it yet. (They claim they want to wait until the next firmware update in February that will enable the SDK, so Apple won't patch the hack in the mean time.) We understand if you're feeling a mite bit let down, so if you jumped the gun (or just didn't hear the good news), restoring your phone back to trusty old v1.1.1 isn't too big a feat. That supposed jailbreak video is after the break though, if you want to whet your whistle.

The only problem im having is that the after jailbreking it the iphone will not work it will say this iphone this iphone must be used with an approved sim. i bought these iphone with the 1.1.2 software. after that i tried to upgrade by ibrikr to 1.1.3 to see if that would make the iphone work. but these only made matters worst making it go into recovery mode. the files im using are the 1.1.1 software for the iphone iphuc a and itunes. any tips or ideas if so plz contact me at alopezhigh@gmail.com thanks.
Lamar Vannoy @ Jan 20th 2008 10:36PM
But wait.. what about the $20 upgrade for the touch? Why do I have to pay for it?!
Anthony @ Jan 20th 2008 10:42PM
Because someone somewhere has you on their list.
Lamar Vannoy @ Jan 20th 2008 10:47PM
Gosh.. I just remembered.. I didn't buy a touch. That thing in my pocket is a Zen Vision: W.. I always wondered why it could play my XviD files..

For those wanting an easy way to downgrade firmware, downgrade bb, virginize, etc, this site has been good to me:
http://iphone.unlock.no/
MasterWitt @ Jan 20th 2008 10:54PM
Yeah I they are doing the right thing on keeping the thing from being released til the SDK is released. But the thing is, if you do upgrade to the 1.1.3 when the SDK comes out and they release the Jailbreak, will the iPod Touch users still have to pay the $20 for the new apps or will someone out there put the apps in the new installer(for when the jailbreak is released?)
Thats my question :P
kavendano14 @ Jan 20th 2008 11:28PM
I think Apple is going to manage the apps so no they most likely wont be there without a price
majora1991 @ Jan 21st 2008 1:26AM
why don't the group make there own firmware and download there 1.1.3
paul34 @ Jan 20th 2008 10:57PM
And here I am still using a jailbroken and unlocked 1.0.2
scribbins @ Jan 20th 2008 11:45PM
paul34,
You can safely move to 1.1.1.
http://iphone.unlock.no/ has the complete instructions. I did it a few weeks ago... It was incredibly easy, and now I can download songs to my phone from the iTunes store.
Ross @ Jan 20th 2008 11:09PM
I still think the whole holding the 1.1.3 jailbreak back for our own good is one of the most asinine things I've ever heard. The SDK will bring with it a new method of identifying valid programs and more than likely some form of encrypted validation key for "trusted"/SDK developed programs. I'll go ahead an throw it out there that whether the jailbreak is released or not won't make a difference either way after the 1.1.4 (or whatever) update.
SireB @ Jan 21st 2008 12:52AM
Fully agree. Just because the SDK will be out there doesn't mean suddenly phone aren't going to need Jailbreak.
Also, do people really think that the team will release the JB the day OF the SDK release. We might be waiting for almost 2 months.
ph15h @ Jan 20th 2008 11:19PM
:( hopefully the one that's coming in the mail is 1.1.2. I don't know what to do.
Link12245 @ Jan 20th 2008 11:51PM
This is how i see the sdk working out:
1. A Dev team member pays for the application apple releases.
2. Said member, then hacks the working software, and distributes it under Installer.app for free.
3. Apple gets angry.
4. Apple charges more and more for the apps.
5. Apple realizes this doesn't work.
6. Apple trys to encrypt their *.app files.
7. Insert Dev Team member from #1, encryption is gone.
8. All the little hacklings rejoice, as they no longer have to pay $5-$10 for an app that should be free anyway.
stooke @ Jan 21st 2008 8:52AM
Funny, that just sounded like the history of the music industry.
rav97 @ Jan 21st 2008 9:40AM
Apple can digitally sign every app you download with a signature that somehow (possibly in a non-obvious way) depends on your phone IMEI number. The IMEI # is a number unique to each GSM cellphone. So even if you make the app you bought available to others, only your phone will be able to run it. Moreover, if Apple get hold of a copy of the pirated app, it will be able, examining the signature, to recover the IMEI # of the phone from which it came, and hence to trace it back to you.
Link12245 @ Jan 21st 2008 11:59AM
right, but how would the imie work with the Ipod Touch? And i'm sure any good hacker could easily replace the 16digits to 0000-0000-0000-0000 if they wanted to. just a thought
Reader @ Jan 20th 2008 11:52PM
Sweet. Does this mean, if I had an iPod, that I could pay 20 bucks for the upgrade and then downgrade for free? Now that's a deal.
ED @ Jan 21st 2008 12:05AM
You can downgrade it to 1.1.2 if iPhone is with boot loader 3.9

I have an idea, why don't they (the hackers) just bring all the cool functions of 1.1.3 to us 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 users. I already have iphone apps but I'd like an updated version of google maps.
Techitorial @ Jan 21st 2008 12:21AM
I wonder why Apple does not just sell an unlock - even if it is expensive - at least users have a choice. You could have the iPhone standard (works like an iPod Touch) and then pay for an AT&T cheap - or unlock to any network at a higher cost... But I guess they enjoy the noise around the iPhone being hacked all the time - keeps Apple in the media for free
Have anyone tried the http://www.teenbuzz.org tones on your iPhone? The speaker does not seem to be that good at it?
steve @ Jan 21st 2008 12:56AM
It's because AT&T won't let them. They're so adamant about it, they're going through an anti-monopoly lawsuit in France that may end up forcing them to there, but they're not giving up without a fight, and they'd be doing that at the command of the French government. Do you really think they are just going to turn around and unlock it?
Majora1991 @ Jan 21st 2008 1:29AM
Why don't they just make there own firmware
macgeek @ Jan 21st 2008 3:27AM
Because the firmware is signed, and the key is kept secret by Apple.
But it should be possible with BL 3.9 ...
Christiano @ Jan 21st 2008 7:08AM
Cant everybody notice that this is a fake video ? Its just a iPod Touch running 1.1.3, you can notice by looking beside the wireless signal the work "IPOD" instead of any operator, it shows that this is an iPod Touch and not a iPhone Jailbroken!
eatmoreramen @ Jan 21st 2008 9:36AM
No, it's not a fake.
The headline cleary says "iPhone / iPod touch"
This IS a jailbroken iPod Touch. No one's claiming it to be otherwise.
rav97 @ Jan 21st 2008 8:58AM
"They claim they want to wait until the next firmware update in February that will enable the SDK, so Apple won't patch the hack in the mean time"
I'm troubled by this reliance on Apple not being able to find security vulnerabilities on its own. Does Apple's QA process really suck that much?

The 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 downgrade makes an iPhone's phone functions UNUSABLE at this time. This is more than a little caveat guys...

Any help for a 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 downgrade? I jailbroke and unlocked my friend iphone to 1.1.1, but my friend upgraded to 1.1.2 .
scott @ Jan 21st 2008 6:41PM
How to downgrade your hacked iPhone in case you jumped the gun on the latest software? Couldn't someone just email the three people involved rather than putting up on the web where six billion people have to be bothered with it? Sheesh.

I HAVE AN IPHONE VERSION 1.1.3 AND I HAVE A PROBLEM WHEN EVER I DOWNGRADE TO 1.1.1 I GET THE "1015 ERROR". I USE "CMD FSBOOT" IN IPHUC TO GET OUT OF RECOVERY MODE AFTER I DO THAT IT GETS OUT OF RECOVERY MODE AND IT GOES TO THE ACTIVATION WINDOW.BUT IT KEEPS ON GIVING ME AN ERROR ABOUT NO SIM CARD INSERTED.I HAVE A AT&T SIM CARD.HOW DO I FIX THIS PROBLEM?? PLEASEEE HELP...
Thomas @ Jan 27th 2008 2:34AM
you are fucked...
had the same problem with upgrading to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2 with 1.1.1 baseband. sorry to bring this to you, but the only way you can get this shit fixed is by trying various methods. if it makes you happy i got through this.. but that was after 10 hours of trying and failing every fucking time.
Somehow I got through it. I had tried Independence on mac, iBrickr, winstaller and all there is,
but it all ended up with "incorrect sim" however I
upgraded/downgraded... But then suddenly, after using iBrickr to
downgrade from 1.1.1 and still in "incorrect sim" mode in 1.0.2, I
installed apptapp, launched winstaller, and installed a couple of
progs (no matter which ones I suppose) in iBrickr, AND THEN LAUCHED
independence on a MAC i got it it to jailbreak and start up and view
springboard. I was so happy (and lucky i guess). So I found this one
guy on the internet who saved me with one amazing quote (because when
it was in this mode i also had f***** up IMEI which will happen to
everyone in this state...my guess.. it starts with 0049...something):
restart you iPhone without your SIM in and you will get your IMEI
back... did that and my beautiful IMEI was back on track.

Hi guy.
According to Diggs.com, the 1.1.3 jail breaks seems release.
Is anyone can verify it?
Thx.
