Got that song stuck in your head? You know,
the song. Go ahead, hum a few bars, nobody's going to notice.
"This was a triumph..." Bet it's in there now! Now, while you spend the next 6-8 weeks trying wrench that beautiful melody from you head, you can concentrate on the harm you've caused to innocent weighted companion cubes over the world, and think about making restitution. Take this homage built by Magnus Persson, for example: it allows the cube to fulfill a higher calling as a
case for a VIA Epia EX1500G, and it looks pretty too -- it's almost like that little incident never happened!
I think I know my next case :D
And, Now the song is stuck in my head. Thanks alot!
(P.S. First post!)
Damn it, nobody cares about your first post. NOBODY CARES!
Hey, insertAlias, I kinda care about it his posting firs--
wait, no, I don't, continue the flaming.
I-want-that-case.
The only problem is trying to explain the little pink hearts to someone not familiar with "Portal."
If somebody questions it just tell them there's cake in the other room.
But when they get there... no cake? hahahaha.
The cake is a lie...
Wow, your article conveys the impression of someone high on some intoxicating-ly hallucinogenic hippie drug.
That or he's been breathing in some of GLaDOS' Deadly Neurotoxins.
R.I.P. Weighted companion cube. We hardly knew ye :'(. You'll live on in our memories and in that guy's case mod :)
I would've been interested if it hadn't been for those damn pink hearts.
...that and the fact that I don't own a VIA Epia EX1500G.
Without the pink hearts it wouldn't be a weighted companion cube now, would it?
Sorry, John, what was I thinking? What would I do without you?
I'd write you a letter expressing my gratitutde, but I've never been fond of Dear John letters.
It could just be a storage cube. Weighted storage cubes enable the same enjoyment and switch depressing abilities as a companion cube without the messy euthanasia.
I didn't know the "weighted" was a specific reference...which explain why I didn't get the song reference.

Not a good day for me to comment.
For continuity's sake. *votes self down*
No, I don't know the song. So i'm happy to say it's not stuck in my head.
This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here:
HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate
my satisfaction.
Aperture Science
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.
But there's no sense crying
over every mistake.
You just keep on trying
till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are
still alive.
I'm not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And killed me.
And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a pyre.
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data
make a beautiful line.
And we're out of beta.
We're releasing on time.
So I'm glad I got burned.
Think of all the things we learned
for the people who are
still alive.
Go ahead and leave me.
I think i prefer to stay inside.
maybe you'll find someone else
to help you.
maybe Black Mesa...
THAT WAS A JOKE, HA HA, FAT CHANCE.
Anyway this cake is great.
It's so delicious and moist
look at me still talking when theres science to do
when i look out there
it makes me glad I'm not you
i've experiments to run
there is research to be done
on the people who are
still alive.
and believe me I am still alive
I'm doing science and I'm still alive
i feel fantastic and I'm still alive
while your dying ill be still alive
and when your dead i will be still alive
still alive
still alive

I'm glad i still don't know it.
All I know is that I want the song for Rock Band.
"And threw every piece into a pyre."
FIRE.
An even better version of the song...Coded in assembly on an 8080 based system running at 2 Mhz with a C64 sound chip.

Damn it all... now I will be thinking about that song for days. Thanks >=(
From now on there's going to be a lot less conversation and a . . . lot . . . more . . . killing
All your cubes are belong to us.
I are stoopid. I don't know what the cube is, or what it's for, and I dont know the song. I feel like I am taking crazy pills.
Do yourself a favor and play Portal.
http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=400
Or buy the Orange Box for the console of your choice.
It is a very neat puzzle game.
I read every page of the Read link...it was a beautiful thing.
Better keep that thing locked up well if you don't want some strange lady to come and euthanize it.
I have no idea what song you are describing, or about the game the case is made from, but it's a really nice case. I wish I had skills to build stuff like that. Even with pink hearts it's a great looking case. Love how the inside looks as well. Love the 120mm fan. I'd love a case like that.
I have no idea what song or companion cube is being referenced here, all I can gather is that it's a gutless mini PC in a dumb looking case.
I'm a little confused, and a little sad, Engadget and me are clearly drifting apart...
Wow a lament cube of love, watch out for the pink cenobites :-)
You can get the song from iTunes...
Needs a cake-shaped mouse.
The cake shaped mouse is a lie.
It could even have an: Aperture Science Emergency Intelligence Incinerator, for a mouse pad :p.
Nope. Don't know that one.
The case is a lie!
No, its just sitting in a room full of those spooky computer brains or whatever they are...
FYC "weighted companion cube" is a simple cube showed at Half Life 2 Orange box package game, more specifically the game called "Portal". This cube is showed as a character, even when this cube cannot move, talk or stab you.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_(video_game)
Awww...You spoiled the psychedelic fun by explaining it!
Holy crap.
In the words of Lisa Simpsons: "I know all of those words, but that [post] makes no sense."
One of us is on acid. It's not me.
You bastard...
It's going to take weeks to get it out of my head again
not bad. sucks its a via. there is another wcc case in progress over at [H] that looks more promising. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1232662
The symptoms most commonly produced by Enrichment Center testing are superstition, perceiving inanimate objects as alive, and hallucinations. The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.
Your picture is perfect for that post.
That case better be fire-resistant, or else it could suffer the same fate as the original.
i don't like that song. not one bit.
am i alone in this? please, SOMEONE has to agree with me.
You are alone.
how to build it:
http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2008/01/21/the_weighted_companion_pc/1
Will this replica threaten to stab me?
