Apple store down: pink iPod nano and Canadian iPhone rumors swirl

Yup, it's down again... on a Tuesday... just hours before they announce their quarterly financials. We've been hearing about new pink iPod nanos all morning which have apparently been shipped to big box retail locations. Might we also see Penryn MacBook Pros and even a Canadian iPhone launch? What's that iPhone tab, pictured above, doing on the Canadian site anyway? Hang with us, we'll know shortly.
Update: Store is back, sorry Canada.

Pink iPod that's it, just checked and it's re-opened
It is OPEN :)
No iPhone for the Canadians.
I envy you Canadians - having tangible evidence of the coming of the iPhone. Whilst in Australia, we're still clueless as to whether Apple has even initiated talks with local carriers.
Honestly, I wish the Oz Apple store was down too... feel kind of left ouut.
And Apple's "innovation of the week" is... the iPod nano in pink!
The store's back up: pinks nanos in the U.S.
Get a life !!
Apple TV up to $249 and $349 respectively. Same model number as before. I bought one for $329 on the 15th. Why the $20 bump....and why does it go against what Steve J. presented at Macworld.
Okay. They corrected it. Back to $229 and $329.
Iphone will be released in Belgium, there is a hidden link in the apple store !!
a 64G version!
The pink ipod nano is on the Canadian site, but no iPhone, nor the iPhone tab.
"Store is back, sorry Canada"
Quel surprise.
Short of Apple buying Rogers Wireless (or their own bandwidth)the lack of a supported iPhone service in Canada is not a bygone conclusion.
Ted Rogers' reputation for money grubbing, squeezing every possible penny from users, doing what he wants regardless and an ego as big as all outdoors must be like looking in a mirror for Steve Jobs. Discussions between these two must be a real hoot. Small wonder then still no iPhone in Canada.
Nothing in Rogers wireless plans come anywhere close to the AT&T Plans and frankly, I doubt the now rather faded cache of the iPhone (and even the ability to be the only distributor in Canada) is enough to prise Rogers fingers from your wallet or to concede some profitability to Apple.
There will never be a Rogers iphone in Canada, at least this generation...
Data rate issues....Rogers currently isn't ready to offer unlimited data at the rates Apple wants, has in the US
Revenue sharing....Rogers will never agree to share plan revenue with Apple
Google issues and branding....the iphone is an Apple and Google branded product. Rogers has an exclusive deal with yahoo in canada for web, mail and search....the contact probably has a clause indicating that rogers cannot sell a handset with all those Google aps and branding on it...and do you think Apple would remove them just for one country and carrier. Rogers is also very specific about having the look and feel of the menus and interfaces in all their phones rogers branded...something apple has refused to do...
all you Canadian iphone fanboys just give it up....perhaps the 3g iphone might show up here next year...
Hi.
I suppose this is somewhat off topic, but I don't know where else to ask it.
Does anyone know if it is still possible to buy a retail iPhone from the US and unlock it for use in Canada?
My dad is in NYC this week, and I've been seriously considering asking him to pick one up for me since I no longer feel like waiting for an official Canadian release.
But I've heard bad things about the latest firmware.
Seriously... Why does Engadget list every thing Apple does.. theres other companies out there... Im sure im not alone when i say its getting old... If we wanted to watch every move Apple made, we'd read TUAW. I seriously want some answers... Sure I could skip over it, but thats not the point... Arent there any tech blogs that arent stuck on Jobs' nuts? All im asking is that you not put apple above other companies... You dont report when Sony's ordering site is down, or MS, or HTC, or anyone else for that matter. I love my xbox and you even reported a little heavy on the live outages (why? it seems to me that it created a stir of fanboy comments)... Who the heck at Engadget decides what is to be published? Not everyone that comes here even cares about apple that much. Make it fair... This used to be a good blog, now it seems like its more of a traffic/flame bate Microsoft v. Apple site with good tech news included. The quality is lacking Ryan, please do something. (I dont want to start flame wars, I just wanted to say it in an open forum) I understand that in San Francisco its more artsy and Apple is king, but people from all over the world come here. I doubt Rojas wanted bias and flamewars (then again he is a businessman, but a genius nontheless). Ryan, please... enough is enough...
Rogers hasn't agreed to carry the iPhone yet. They are waiting for the 3G version...
