GE lets loose seven new digital cameras for Europe

It's taken a few months, but GE has finally let loose another batch of thoroughly average digital cameras, although it seems that only those in Europe will be able to get their hands on them for now. We'll spare you the full laundry list of details, but you can expect these ones (occupying model numbers E1050, E1235, A840s, G2, E1035, A835, and A735) to run the gamut from 7 to 12 megapixels, with each boasting suitably compact form factors and at least a 3x optical zoom and either a 2.5-inch or 2.7-inch LCD, with the exception of the E1050, which busts things out to a full 3 inches. That model is also somewhat notable for its inclusion of an HDMI connection and a wide-angle zoom lens, which all the others lack. No word on prices for any of 'em just yet, but you can look for the four lowest-end models to hit Europe by March, with the remaining few trickling out over the summer and fall.

I wish GE would quit diluting their brand name by licensing it to various companies. This camera is not made by GE. They just use the GE brand name. Just like how various alarm clocks, cordless phones, etc are marketed.
GE only makes certain home appliances (refrigerator, water treatment systems, washer, dryer, dish washer, trash compactor, and certain microwaves). They also make light bulbs, nuclear power plants, medical equipment like X-ray, CT scanners, ultrasounds, MRI, etc. They also own NBC/Universal (most of it anyway). They also make diesel locomotives, jet engines, industrial systems, insurance companies, etc. Just look up ge.com and look at their portfolio. Cameras, and clock radios don't figure in their business.
However it is their fault to keep on licensing their logo to people.
I saw Westinghouse televisions at best buy. I don't want those either.
that camera looks like the sony dsc t200
with the small knob there as well..
huh
I saw one of their magnificent products at Sears. Not a dishwasher. It was next to some Olympus and Sony products and the tag on it said "Digital Camera". No megapixels or anything. $89.99
I laughed and bought a Canon.
Well I bet it hasn't been taken with you or your family standing in front of it, if that's important to you.
Simple compositing job?
Time to whip out $700 duopoly reinforcement software!
~GIMP user. (some of the time I try to type that, I accidentally type the PIMP.. I love colemak. ;) Maybe it would be better marketing to just rename it the Professional Image Manipulation Program when they add native support for CMYK or HDR or whatever. Might as well, right? I mean, instead of saying 'photoshop this image', we could just say 'PIMP it'. Telling people to GIMP images confuses them.
That's it. I'm just going to start calling it that; no turning back. PIMP that image, baby!
