Microsoft rolls out Zune 2.3 software update with fixes aplenty
Not to be confused with the Zune 2.3 firmware update, Microsoft is today pushing out the Zune 2.3 software update, which brings with it a whole slew of fixes but no real new features. If the rundown of those fixes given by the ever-helpful Cesar of the Zune Insider blog are any indication, however, it seems that there are few areas of that software that aren't touched by the update. Among the problems getting ironed out are various Marketplace issues, as well as some nagging podcast problems (like not being able to subscribe to anything larger than 10MB), setup issues, and UI mishaps, not to mention a whole mess of sync issues that have supposedly now been sorted, to name a few things. In other words, the sort of update you probably want, and no doubt wish you never needed.

I could be wrong but I think he was being sarcastic about that... either that or he's REALLY dumb.
@ Mark
You could be righ...
What's a Zune?
"I already heard that one on this thread you f*cking unoriginal bastard. Go suck a c*ck you piece of f*cking repeating sh*t!"
enough fanboyism thank you very much.
Where the hell are my smart playlists!?
Yeah... it still doesn't let me make playlists
I still can't make playlists...
I just want Zune to put my pod casts in the directory.
Zune does anyone actualy own one of these things? I have never even seen one in the UK. Are they as "one source" for your music as iPods?
They're not officially available in the UK yet.
I have been trying to update my zune software since yesterday when I read that their was an update. Yesterday I receiving a connection error and now when I check for updates it says I have the current version. So then I go check the about Zune section and it is reading Version 2.1.888.0...what gives? Anybody else having any difficulties with this?
Let me know if their is a solution, I definitely want this update.
Phil, please Google this phrase, "Download details: Zune 2.3". You'll be able to download the complete, self-contained Zune installer from Microsoft. You'll first extract it to a temporary location; then find run the StartZune.exe at that location to begin your installation.
ROFLMAO. Why are zune owners so sensitive (buyer's remorse, anyone)? Geez, your beloved zune isnt perfect, it is not the end all product, get over it. i love reading how the few people that own Zunes get on here and get bent outta shape when you do not praise the zune. Hilarious. Aaah, I give in, can't resist the urge: I'm a tech junkie and I can honestly say I have never seen anyone with a Zune. I guess it is like the minidisc, owned by a few, ignored by the rest of the world.
Same reason iPod/iPhone users get bent out of shape when people point out that they are not the device the owners think they are. Only thing apple does better than MS is marketing.
I have only ever seen 2 people with iPods and one with an iPhone. That's because here in the UK people tend to be a bit more choosy about their purchases and buy quality over hype.
If you look at the true sales numbers for ipods you will see its repeat sales to the same user base, same with Mac Laptops. Just becasue every ipod owner needs to buy 3 ipods over time to have the newest features dosent mean there are 300% more ipods users out there, it just means that 100% of ipods buyers are 300% stupid.
"it just means that 100% of ipods buyers are 300% stupid."
Nice quote Timmy. So with your endorsement of paying off the Music Cartels for every Zune sold must mean that all Zune owners are geniuses? Ahahaha... Simply amazing. Glad your firmware came in, with nothing viable added to your repurposed Toshiba device.
Hey dude, in case you didnt know this there are cartels every where, stop driving your pinto because a cartel is getting money for the oil that made your gas.
Stop eating ass and get with the real world!
Zune 1g == repurposed Toshiba device
Zune 2g != repurposed Toshiba device
And why are you so concerned with the music cartels?
