I had the original Palm Pilot and there's a reason the OS hasn't been changed dramatically for..what is it now.. about 8 years... it's because it works great, so simple and functional. I stopped using palm products several years ago, but since getting a free hand-me-down 650, I've realized again just how lean and intuitive the OS is. I was holding out for Palm to come out with a bad ass device I could really get excited about (smaller, slide out keyboard, good camera, GPS etc.) but I'm still very happy to have the 650 until then because the OS is such a joy to use. Palm got it right to begin with... never mind the haters.
Yeah, PalmOS would be great/simple/functional, if this was still 1999. Unfortunately for Palm, time has moved on and people expect a bit more than an archaic single-threaded OS on their smartphones.
You know, I have an old 386 PC on my attic, running Windows 3.1. It does basic word processing and PIM type tasks just fine, but who the heck wants that this day and age.
While its tablet world topping pixel density, Tegra 2 silicon, and fresh to death OS certainly sound awesome, we had to get our grubby mitts on one to see if it's as good as its spec sheet would have us believe.
