SmartQ T5 flash player gets updated, taunts us from afar
We thought the SmartQ T5 was a solid little player with decent codec support when we first spotted it back in August, but SmartQ's gone and updated it to the T5-II Deluxe Edition, featuring a new video chip that supports TV-out, AV-in, and the RMVB codec, which supports 1024x576 video. Unfortunately, the screen resolution remains at QVGA, but the actual panel's also been bumped up to display 16.7 million colors. Too bad we probably won't ever see this bad boy in the States -- why is it we only get the crap?

Shame it lacks luster.
Still looks ugly...
Wait, wait, wait...
Is that a "RealPlayer" logo? That's like saying "Here's a Ferrari, hope you don't mind the dead baby seals in the glovebox."
Well thought out analogy there :)
From the picture it states that it can play GBA games...? That's not too shabby (except for the copyright issue apprantly).
Yes, I am a Hong Konger (but I write Traditional Chinese.)
China Product,
of course, I can't say all of them are bad.
But most of them are really third-way products.
But being a Chinese, I feel great shame of copy-cat products, bad quality products...
I would rather let the UK control Hong Kong than China.
I don't want anything to be under "Chinalization"

Last time I was in HK I noticed that the vast majority of people thought the same thing.
Damn I clicked the crap link thinking it would take me the Apple iPod page of their shop.
whoa...those specs are killer. n the player is not from apple. engadget is so nice today:-)

It looks like it can be shipped to the US as well.
OK, well nevermind. The link is for the T5 version, not the T5-II Deluxe Edition.
I own the original T5 and although the looks aren't great it is a solid player. GBA emulation is good too. This new version has a few hardware updates but apparently the firmware will be almost identical. It still need sa few tweaks, but firmware updates are frequent and often add new fetures. Decent battery and sdhc support too. If you are on a budget I would reccomend it.
GBA player is just like a soft on it. like JAVA on cellphone. You know, the PDA can play it now.The chip from ADI.It has Terrible Frequency.Clock speed max 600Mhz,the MMACS can dual of this. This player supports D1(720X576)TV-out,means the Video Effects maybe will be better than your DVD.T5 supports RMVB,RM,AVI,MPEG,MP4,DAT,VOB,WMV and FLV(Web video). You can download the video from YouTube. The games supports FC(NES),SFC(SNES),NEO/GEO and GBA( you can saving in everywhere in the game ).You can use Wireless controller to play it on your TV.
Important thing is that it requires about $ 100.If it is made in Japan,Perhaps this will cost you $ 200 or more.
@you, Michael Leung, shame on you! this is a gadget site, no place for your stupid political views. you'd rather be ruled by UK? you're a no good bastard.
@ Michael Leung - For a HKer, your English is terrible.
Give it a VGA screen and it'll be a kickass gadget.
A lot of Chinese movies and shows available online are in rmvb format so that's why a lot of Chinese products try to include the ability to play rmvb files.
