Wii Virtual Console getting Sega Master System games
Finally, you can relive your really good youthful memories via the Wii and its latest Virtual Console addition: the Sega Master System. That's right, if you happen to be nostalgic for a certain Z80A kind of action -- and you live in Japan -- you need only look to Nintendo's cash-cow for help. Starting this February, you can play Fist of the North Star and the hallucination-inducing Fantasy Zone to your heart's content, though just like other VC offerings we expect to see more games and more territories included later on. What's important for Nintendo to know is this: the sooner we're deep in a game of Wonder Boy in Monster Land, the happier everyone will be... so step on it.

Master System has some really nice games, like Phantasy Star and the Alex Kidd series. The Wii might bring some good memories back.
can't wait for the Alex Kidd games...
so when is someone going to figure out how to throw an emulator on there? I'd love to be able to do it for free....
WONDER BOY!!!
Phantasy Star!!! Rhys!!!

Joshua:
First, the "Shaft" reference the other day, now a shout out to the SMS?
How the hell old ARE you?
p.s. I had a Fairchild Channel F. I'm REEEEEEEEALY old!
p.p.s. I will buy a Wii if they release Zaxxon!! (3-D is optional!!)
Give Wii an NEC deal so we can get TurboGraphyx16 games and then we can talk.
They have more TG16 games on the virtual console than any other system except NES. At least they did last time I got on the Wii Shop channel...
Umm Flashpoint?
Done and done.

The CD games are apparently going to come out this year, possibly!
Yes, TG16 games have been out on the Wii VC for quite sometime.
am i the only one a little disappointed by this ? i love that they are adding new systems, but, nintendo only releases 2 or 3 games a week. the more systems they have the less chance we have of seeing some other titles we may want.
So this is only going to be in Japan?
*cries*
I know the reason why they aren't releasing other countries games except for special-circumstance games: ESRB
they would have to show every game and have it re-rated by the ESRB in order for it to be sold here in the USA. They simply don't want the hassle, for a limited number of sales.
In simple terms: In Japan, boobies are okay to be shown in TV and in games. USA they are not.
So stop asking. They won't do it. That is all.
ESRB ratings aren't requirement by the government. Typically they are required by retailers, or they won't carry the games. But the VC is an online store, so there wouldn't be any hassle there.
Nintendo is a smart cookie. I have a Wii addiction and Nintendo isn't doing anything to help me fight it.
I love me some Wonderboy in Monsterland (and Wonderboy 3, and Ghost Busters, and Zillion, and Action Fighter, and Phantasy Star, and Alex Kidd, and Aztec Adventure, and California Games, and...).
There's a version of Wonderboy 3 on VC already. Look for The Dragon's Curse in the TG16 games. The graphics and sound are improved, and the gameplay is 100% the same.

OK, now if we are talking Wonder Boy then I'll buy one of these things. My favorite memory of the Sega system.
They should give everyone Alex the Kid in Miracle World free.
BTW, I still have tiny little dents in my palms from the ergonomic tour de force that is the SM controller.
ouuu now I'm really jealous I don't have a wii. I wonder what system's games they'll be getting next. Maybe Atari 2600!
I won't be satisfied until we get some Virtual Boy games on the VC. ;)
I hope not bouv
Virtual boy was the ps 3 of its day
even in a portable sence
over priced and no game having crap
PS
i will think differently of the PS 3 when they get more games before 2008 @ least 20 toally 9* games or better and then call it the modern day neo-geo over priced but well worth it if you have the money
Just give me Dr. Mario Bros...
I would love to see Red Alarm (Virtual Boy) on the VC, they could make you use those tacky Red/Blue glasses to give the 3D effect plus the headaches
