Dev Team's 1.1.3 jailbreak for iPhone / iPod touch now available
If you've got a certain brand loyalty to the official iPhone Dev Team then take note, they just released their own special flavor of the 1.1.3 jailbreak for iPhone / iPod touch. We guess that with the splitter version already outed (and its secrets revealed to Apple) there was no sense in keeping it under wraps any longer. The hack requires a v1.1.2 jailbroken device with the BSD Subsystem v1.5 or greater installed -- it does NOT upgrade your baseband. All the usual cautions apply hacker-boy so be careful out there, we haven't tested... yet. [Thanks, Ben]

I havnt tested yet only one thing stopping me. Many are saying after upgrading to 1.1.3 contacts, bookmarks and their calenders do NOT sync :( but i yet to be confirmed to see if this apply s to everyone or not.
Simon @ Jan 27th 2008 11:51AM
From my own experience I have found that this only applies when going straight from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3. Going from 1.1.1 -> 1.1.2 -> 1.1.3 causes no problems.
Harkonian @ Jan 27th 2008 2:38PM
There is a very good step-by-step guide to ensure that you get full functionality without losing anyting. It can be found here:

the sync issue was more of a problem with the old jailbreak for 1.1.3. this one does not have the sync issues. but you can't use summerboard for themes, as it doesn't work. and you can't use customize to hide icons, those 2 reasons there i won't upgrade, let alone the problem with locate not working 100%
Louis @ Jan 28th 2008 11:58AM
It's true Ben but the way round this is to:
1. back~up your contacts in address book go to file/export archrive
2. Open up address book and delete all the contacts after you have created the archrive.
3. Sync phone
4. After phone is sync and you don't see the contacts on your phone click on the archrive file of the address book. Once back up is restored re:sync phone and all contacts will sync again via changes from the phone or computer.
If that doesn't work delete all data from the phone via setting/general/reset/erase all content and setting. then do the above.
This worked for me. I was going crazy trying to get my contacts to sync

I'd love to do it but I really want the new baseband, and if I understand right, if I install legit .3 for the baseband, then I can't downgrade to 1.1 and re-jailbreak to install this hacked .3 because I have a 1.1.2 OTB :(
pechspilz @ Jan 27th 2008 7:12AM
Byzil, you need an 3.9 bootloader if you want to run the new baseband with 1.1.3.
See here for instructions: http://www.trick77.com/2008/01/26/jailbreakactivate-ipsf-113-iphone/
There are some 1.1.2 OOTB iPhones with the old 3.9 bootloader.
Cheers
Byzil Mystwing @ Jan 27th 2008 7:32AM
bootlader 4.6.. sadface :(
lionel @ Jan 27th 2008 8:40AM
the 1.1.3 unlocking is good but one thing the EDGE (E) icon is not beeing shown
vd @ Jan 27th 2008 9:41AM
Add http://www.sendowski.de/iphone as a new source to your Installer and install "ASgprs for 1.1.3" package from "Tweaks 1.1.3" category - i'll fix your problem with GPRS/EDGE icon.
droow @ Jan 27th 2008 7:12AM
right, ok, now can anyoe explain where we're at now? jailbreaks, firmware, basebands.....
All I wanna do is buy an iphone, unlock it to use on vodaphone uk and maybe install some apps.

:)
katakata @ Jan 27th 2008 7:32AM
yes, would like to know too. want to but a phone from U.S and use in australia
Mark Dean @ Jan 27th 2008 7:35AM
If you go out anad buy an iPhone today it will most likley be 1.1.2 ir 1.1.3 out the box.
If it is eiher of these, you can't unlock it currently without modifying the hardware or using a 'trick' sim such as turbo sim or stealth sim.
sepirioth @ Jan 27th 2008 12:42PM
eBay is your friend here...
andrewyamp @ Jan 27th 2008 1:13PM
what Mark Deen said is not true at all
I purchased an iphone a bout a month ago it was 1.1.2 and i jailbroke it without any hardware modifications or anything like that, there are guides online.
Bootes @ Jan 27th 2008 2:31PM
andrewyamp he wants to do more than jailbreak it, he wants to unlock it as well.
Seer @ Jan 28th 2008 2:00PM
If the phone has 1.1.2 firmware you can downgrade it to 1.1.1 and unlock it for any sim card. If the phone has 1.1.3 I am not so sure you can do the downgrade.
I used this guide to downgrade and then unlock from 1.1.2 http://tf.erzz.com/2008/01/09/upgrade-102-unlocked-iphone-to-unlocked-111/
It also explains the steps for 1.1.2 downgrade and links to another site for that part, but his overall explanation is best.
Simon @ Jan 27th 2008 7:20AM
Any alternative download locations? Can't seem to download the linked file.
Thanks!

I can say truthfully this was the worst download i ever. The contacts came over no problem but it was buggy as hell and was always freezing. I got about half the recepiton i used to, and the battery died after half a day. And i easily went back to 1.1.1 after i found out how bad it was so dont think your stuck.
pscs @ Jan 27th 2008 8:26AM
this is nice, but i'm still waiting for the 1.1.2 4.6 unlock... :(
Rusty @ Jan 27th 2008 8:37AM
unlocks, hacks, just to make it where a device you purchase
will run the software that you want to run? The iPhone is a fantastic device, but, it's closed nature is why I didn't get one. I want to have total control (as much as possible) of MY
device, not having to do what Apple says.
Chris @ Jan 27th 2008 12:15PM
Thats why some of us are waiting for the google phone.
ethana2 @ Jan 27th 2008 5:44PM
That or the OpenMoko. Yes. This whole time, we have been waiting... and soon, we'll get what we've been waiting for.
...Google. Is. Awesome.
...Apple is evil.
starkruzr @ Jan 27th 2008 6:06PM
You're fooling yourselves if you think OpenMoko or Android will be any better. OpenMoko can't get off the ground; everything about it is disorganized and doomed to failure. Android runs everything in Java sandboxes; kiss the ability to do anything really useful goodbye.
Tim @ Jan 27th 2008 9:33AM
well im looking into getting a touch soon (UK) how easy are they to hack out of the box, and how come its the only pod without games =/
Jimmy @ Jan 27th 2008 5:26PM
Got a Touch for Xmas. Jailbroke it and added email, contacts, note and games. Easy as pie. Running 1.1.1 and haven't seen a huge reason to change yet. 1.1.3 might make me do it again.
chario @ Jan 27th 2008 9:57AM
Woohh very Nice and easy :D

Nawaf Alsabhan @ Jan 27th 2008 10:05AM
I have written a Full Official Jailbreak for 1.1.3, but it's only for AT&T Sims, and iTunes Activated ! It upgrades the baseband, that's why it's AT&T Sim only.

Digg Here:

Hope it helps you guys..

Awesome work.
It's a shame I'm running Linux. But I'm in no rush anyway. Consider yourself dugg.
mr. Obsession @ Jan 27th 2008 5:54PM
Nawaf: Beautifully done. Worked perfectly for me...Dugg it!
Chris @ Jan 28th 2008 7:02PM
Does this work if I already have 1.1.3 installed?
cliff @ Jan 27th 2008 10:38AM
is there a way to hack the official 1.1.3 yet? I updated when it was first released from a hacked 1.1.1, BIG mistake, I want my Native Apps back!!
Nawaf Alsabhan @ Jan 27th 2008 10:57AM
Read my tutorial from my website the Full Official jailbreak, it might help u, because u have to upgrade to 1.1.3 and then downgrade to 1.1.1, install installer, jailbreak to 1.1.2, then soft upgrade to 1.1.3, so it might help u since u already did upgraded ! (if it helps u please Digg it, thanks)
Mike @ Jan 27th 2008 11:05AM
My phone was version 1.1.1 hacked, and i upgraded to 1.1.2 and hacked it again. Then applied the new 1.1.3 hack and voila!
Everything works well, the only issue are thrid party programs set to only work on the 1.1.[12] versions. I can confirm i lost nothing, except for some 3rd party programs i had grown accustomed to.

Grammar Boy says:
Comma splice in the first sentence.
I'm just saying . . .
Jonno @ Jan 27th 2008 11:43AM
Indeed. And let's not forget the bad apostrophe: "... (and it's secrets revealed to Apple)", which translates to "... (and it is secrets revealed to Apple)". This of course does not make sense in the context.
Grammar is important!

Hmm. Still on the fence about the iPhone. I can't get ATT service out where I am right now. I think I'll hold off until I go to college. Hopefully they will have added a few more gigs to this thing by August.
packetsniffer @ Jan 27th 2008 11:56AM
I think it's worth mentioning that this is for Macs only.
Chris @ Jan 27th 2008 12:20PM
Quick question, has anyone had trouble getting yahoomail to work with the iphone mail app? It works for my gmail but not my yahoo account.
Berzerker @ Jan 27th 2008 12:58PM
Well this is a pretty f'ed up way to do it. What if people can't jailbreak to 1.1.2? My iPod Touch just hangs in recovery mode after the jailbreak.jar says it's done and will reboot a couple times.
apeguero @ Jan 27th 2008 1:05PM
What's the solution for getting YouTube to work on 1.1.2 jailbreaks?
andrewyamp @ Jan 27th 2008 1:28PM
Anyone know what the point of upgrading our baseband is?
Does it improve call quality or is this strictly something that people that are unlocking their phones worry about?
Harkonian @ Jan 27th 2008 4:00PM
andrewyamp:
One point of upgrading the baseband is that it uses uses newer cell software that is compatible with the new google maps locator functionality in 1.1.3. Without the new baseband that feature will not work.

Question I Have An oob 1.1.2 That Is Working Downgraded To 1.1.1 An Back Up To 1.1.2 Jailbroke And Added 3rd Party Apps And Turbosimed Using T-Mobile Now Works great No Problems Question If I Do The Soft Upgrade To 1.1.3 Will My Apps Still Work. I Have Seen On The Forum About The 1.1.1 Freezes And Some Apps Are Gone Just Wondering About The 1.1.2 OOB.
vdogg89 @ Jan 27th 2008 1:55PM
If i had 1.1.2 jailbroken, and i do this next part through installer, do i still get the 1.1.3 perks such as moving icons, or the new google maps?
John @ Jan 27th 2008 2:06PM
So, I'm really new at this of jailbreaking.
What I did was tried to downgrade to 1.1.2 using recovery mode and choosing the 1.1.2 firmware zip file. Now I pretty much have a bricked iPhone because I don't really know my way in iPhuc.
Can someone care to help me?
Hecktic @ Jan 27th 2008 2:59PM
ok did you go from 1.1.3 to 1.1.2? first question
are you on a mac or pc? second question
why on earth would start anything with out reading the available documentation?
i gotten my iphone out of 3 bricks already, everything is on the internet n how to fix it
simple google search "iphone jailbreaking guides 1.0.2, 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3 downgrading firmware"
any combination of those words that apply to you will get you everything you need, i used to jump the gun and hacked things with out having half the clue because i never read through the instructions. hopefully this will be a rude awaking for you and next time you read up on what your doing to your 400$ brick.
