WithView's HM-U500 do-it-all handles DMB, makes Americans envious
Yeah, we Americans have some pretty fancy toys to play with, but we still can't help but feel a touch slighted each time one of these beauties emerges from South Korea. WithView's HM-U500 sports a whole lot of screen and not much bezel, an ultrathin design and a 4.3-inch 480 x 272 resolution panel. Reportedly, the unit is available in 4GB and 8GB iterations and features an SD expansion slot, built-in camera, a kickstand, headphone jack, a T-DMB tuner, e-dictionary, and support for MP3, WMV, OGG, JPG, BMP, PNG and AVI file formats. No word on a price or anything, but for the US crowd who can't just hop on the next flight to Seoul to pick one up, we're probably better off not knowing.

Archos 605 Wifi 160GB is better anyway, TV tuner or no TV tuner.
If this had the same capacity as the 605 Wifi and could play 720p x264/AC3 MKVs, *THEN* I'd be envious.
daedric @ Jan 29th 2008 9:50PM
yeah but not even the 605 could play 720p mkv, heck they don't even support mkv afaik

I wish some of these companies would start selling in the US. We NEED more competition over here. I wonder if these Korean (and Chinese) companies are just waiting for the iPod hysteria to die down even more? or are they not even wanting to try?
I see so many devices over there that I would love to get my hands on.

What about the description makes you think its a piece of shit? Admittedly if you watch movies on your PMP, this probably isn't for you... I mean, sure the resolution could be better, but you'd probably also want something with a bigger drive for videos... but you better believe its going to be priced accordingly.
It seems to support a nice list of audio codecs, and if the camera is at least as good as a camera phone, it will be fun to have available. It actually has features that I wish my Archos 605 had (which I love).

What no bluetooth? No Wifi? All show no go.

A word my my friend & I came up w/ in high-school for looking @ girls while in a relationship seems appropriate for these types of Korea-only gadgets: Fun-stration (fun + frustration).
However, another, junior high word also comes to mind: Badical (bad + radical).
12 years on. Still a dork.

I concur.

I speak Korean and just checked out the site. This device does not have a camera; the little port you see on the back is so you can use the touch-pen as a kick-stand of sorts. It has a 4gig capacity with an SD card slot. Price looks like 248,000won or about $230(USD). Not bad but Cowon's D2 looks like a better buy at a cheaper price.
