Here's twin brother to Pentax's
K20D DSLR, the Samsung
GX-20. It looks like a nice bit of kit, and we're really curious to see if any differences between the two as a result of Samsung doing its own thing with the JPEG processing. If you've been watching either this model or the K20D, you know the specs: 14.6-megapixel CMOS, live view LCD and ISO that you can crank up to 3200. Note the Pentax KAF mount, so you can put Pentax glass on this body; and there are some nice lenses in the Pentax stable to be sure. Also, Samsung was showing off their extended grip with wireless capability.
I know it is a cool camera, but....
Is anyone else sick of all these Camera posts?
In some ways, this camera is better than the Pentax K20D. The back buttons are designed differently, and the Samsung's menu is way more organized and easy to use. The Pentax menu isn't nearly as easy to use because it's not organized well.
Of course, if the Samsung's processing engine sucks, who cares how the menu looks!
Pentax has made some new modifications to their menu system for the K20 and K200. It seems they really listened to customer feedback in that regard. I wouldnt be so ready to knock it until I've seen it.
It is the PMA now. PMA is the CES of Photography. So the reason why it is so many Camera posts is the same it was so many gadget-posts under CES.
And I am loving every one of them. And close your eyes this year around 23-28 September, because then the second photo equipment event (Photokina) is due. Then the long awaited Sony Alpha 900 is either already out or is launched.
