If it plays NES games like most ripoff I want it!
merf1350 @ Jan 31st 2008 9:41AM
No, but it'll emulate atari, cuz those are clearly atari joystiq connections.
Flashpoint @ Jan 31st 2008 11:08AM
BUT...Can it play CRYSIS?
Moofree @ Jan 31st 2008 11:13AM
"clearly atari joystiq connections."
Famicom clones use those connectors.
And the sega master system/megadrive/genesis.
Or... 9 pin rs232 :P
R0B3RT @ Jan 31st 2008 8:11AM
The controllers look like bat-er-angs....... and its a creepy looking mutated x box knock off. so cheezy
Smart People Play Tuba @ Jan 31st 2008 8:18AM
Also, it looks like it comes with FOUR controllers! Woo-hoo!
Giulio @ Jan 31st 2008 8:23AM
I can see only 2 controller slots...
pjnofrills @ Jan 31st 2008 8:34AM
That's not 4 controllers, they're trying to illustrate the "controller vibration" with limited graphic design skills.
Ellianth @ Jan 31st 2008 9:01AM
Reminds me more of a Sega CD than an XBOX.
Smart People Play Tuba @ Jan 31st 2008 9:32AM
My "woo-hoo" was to indicate I was kidding.
Clasifyd @ Jan 31st 2008 9:38AM
More importantly, it looks as if they used the controller ports from a salvaged Sega Genisis. It always ruined my day when I bent one of those pins off and I could no long make Earthworm Jim 'jump'.
John Johnson @ Jan 31st 2008 8:18AM
But, it's a bit more capable than the PS3 was upon release. They managed to get "controller vibration".
Silverfrog @ Jan 31st 2008 8:40AM
Let me guess--you don't own a PS3.
lejupp @ Jan 31st 2008 8:55AM
No, he doesn't. As you can see in the picture, he spent all his money on an Ariel Atom. Jeremy is King btw!
Zeus.:God @ Jan 31st 2008 9:15AM
WOO! Top Gear!
Zeus.:God @ Jan 31st 2008 9:15AM
WOO! Top Gear!
Kizorblade @ Jan 31st 2008 9:52AM
Jeremy rocks. Best humor EVER.
Prokanda @ Jan 31st 2008 10:18AM
I however DO own a PS3.... and I was just scrolling down to see if anyone had made the comment that I had in mind...... so shh.
shanoboy @ Jan 31st 2008 8:24AM
Yeah, if I ever found out one of these things could load emulators for snes, genesis, nes and so on I'd buy one in a heart beat given the price was right!
Wes @ Jan 31st 2008 9:13AM
You can.... it's called a Dreamcast ;)
shanoboy @ Jan 31st 2008 9:15AM
@Wes,
I had no idea you could set a Dreamcast up to play emulators! Thanks Wes, you just gave me something new to research.
kastonie @ Jan 31st 2008 12:11PM
man that makes me want to go out and get another dreamcast. I had a dreamcast set up with all the boot disks with emus and roms for nes and snes...i played those games more than the regular dreamcast games...but it got flooded....time to head on over to ebay for me!
Wes @ Jan 31st 2008 12:31PM
nesterdc and dreamsnes are great.
And Nintendo and Sega need to wake up to the potential gold mine.
You could probably fit every NES game and every SNES and the software to run them on to less than 2 gigs. A real (licensed) nintendo TV Games/PlugnPlay for $49 or so would absolutely clean up.
My kids have worn out my sega plugnplay (6 games) and bypass the 360 to play dreamsnes on the Dreamcast (ok, that's just because I won't let them until I figure out the transition from m/kb to game pad for FPS games... grrr).
NHAnimator @ Jan 31st 2008 8:28AM
Two weeks after you get it, it displays a Giant Green X of Death. Much cooler than the Little Red Circle of Death.
Evan @ Jan 31st 2008 8:41AM
haha good one
dave @ Jan 31st 2008 10:54AM
it's not actually made by microsoft, so there's no anything of death!
GreatSunJester @ Jan 31st 2008 8:31AM
Do people actually fall for these or is there a specific market that knows what they are getting, but get it anyway?
dataminer49er @ Jan 31st 2008 8:47AM
The controller slots look like the old Atari 2600 slots. Just wondering can a slot like that handle the data transfer from a modern controller?
Silverfrog @ Jan 31st 2008 8:58AM
That depends on what kind of bus it uses. It appears to use a DB-9 connector, however DB-9 could use RS-232, or one of a dozen IEEE standards. And yes, several of those standards are fast enough for I/O speeds required by a controller.
Hafk @ Jan 31st 2008 9:10AM
When you see it you'll turn 3600 degrees and walk away.
Alan @ Jan 31st 2008 9:15AM
turning 3600 degrees... wouldn't that put you right back infront of it?
Rynth @ Jan 31st 2008 9:35AM
By the time you've turned 3600 degrees, you'll be dizzy enough to have forgotten what you were doing anyways.
Jagannath A @ Jan 31st 2008 10:08AM
it actually means you are so awed at it and turn around 10 times to look again n again ;)
EMaster @ Jan 31st 2008 9:10AM
Aren't those Sega Genesis Controller ports?
Vince M @ Jan 31st 2008 9:13AM
lol was thinking the same thing...
EMaster @ Jan 31st 2008 9:36AM
It says 9 pin atari 2600 ports. So yes, they are.
Tavis Veighey @ Jan 31st 2008 11:57AM
Sega Genesis, Atari 2600/5200, Commodore 64, and many other consoles used 9pin ports.
michas_pi @ Jan 31st 2008 9:14AM
Is that a massive heatsink I see on the left side? Man, that thing must get hot from all the pixels it has to push.
Pete @ Jan 31st 2008 9:37AM
Nah... that is the built in "comb filter" for enhanced graphics.
michas_pi @ Jan 31st 2008 10:07AM
I see. For a second I thought is was their answer to the Xbox 360 hard drive.
Anthony @ Jan 31st 2008 11:27AM
It makes the bits go faster.
Flashpoint @ Jan 31st 2008 11:11AM
I hear this thing has a processor capable of 300 Terraflops and can push 30 billion triangles. It has so much power in fact, it can run Call of Duty 4, Halo 3 and the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series simultaneously off of one of its CPU cores.
Grant @ Jan 31st 2008 12:24PM
wow, looks like someone stole one of the crappier concept design cases for the original xbox!
Ergonomics not included!
orka @ Feb 3rd 2008 1:27PM
Sega and Commodore used the same controller ports. Atari too, it seems.
I used a sega gamepad with my amiga back in the days. No problem, altough buttons B and C didn't work when connected to the amiga.
