More AT&T wireless outages?
We've been receiving a steady stream of tips from users around the country today reporting that AT&T, which supposedly just got back up from some apparent sporadic outages spread across the nation, was (is?) back down again today. We haven't seen or heard much, and have yet to confirm whether things ever even fully came back up at all, but what say you? Still experiencing issues? We'll let you know what we hear back from AT&T -- as you may have heard, we had them build a Batline to Ralph's office for just such an occasion.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

No 3g service in Sac. Ca. this morning. 2/17/08
Bootes @ Feb 7th 2008 5:27PM
I have no issues, and have never had any. I'm currently in Binghamton, New York.
gerbick @ Feb 3rd 2008 1:22AM
My data was sluggish yesterday (Feb. 02) and out totally on Feb. 01, however now it's just acting weird... difference per hour.
Hold time to AT&T have been increased to over 4 minutes too.
Mile @ Feb 3rd 2008 4:27PM
Sorry about that.
I'd like to apologize to you and everyone else. My bad.
Won't do it again. Learned my lesson and all that.
Tom Oliveri @ Feb 3rd 2008 1:25AM
more posts we dont care about?
Jack Storm @ Feb 3rd 2008 1:50AM
Dont talk for me.
I care, only because its a slow news weekend.
Nathan @ Feb 3rd 2008 5:05AM
I don't get why you even make comments here Tom. I've been lurking comments here for the last few days and you always write some kitschy one liners complaining about Engadget, or alternately complaining about SOMETHING within the post itself.
If you don't care about something, as you so eloquently announce to the members of the tubes, then it really shouldn't be worth your time to write a pithy little bitch-n-moan about it in the comments section.
And perhaps YOU don't care about AT&T coverage outages but I imagine those of us who use it to make the money we need so we can pay them bills, and browse the various Internets, just might.
Dirkus @ Feb 3rd 2008 11:50PM
Thou high Gods of Engadget, I beseech thee humbly on bended knee; Droppest thou the Might of the Ineffable Banhammer and smite this troll from the Interbutts.
Ramen.
Gremlin @ Feb 3rd 2008 1:27AM
... comments still not working ... wtf ...
zephead @ Feb 3rd 2008 1:30AM
No problems with my service. I'm using it in the Inland Empire and the border of LA and Orange counties in California.

Frank @ Feb 3rd 2008 1:41AM
Argg!!! Was driving and missed an exit. Tried to use gmaps to get a new route, but no EDGE data!!! Extremely frustrating, lost for nearly 2 hours. Damn New York highways suck.
Dean @ Feb 3rd 2008 1:50AM
EDGE was out here in South Florida for a couple hours today... but it never went out (that I know of) earlier in the week. Everything is working as it should now.
Yusuke @ Feb 3rd 2008 1:52AM
Everything works for me 120 miles north of Seattle. I also can use the 3G network now? Never saw that one at home.
Dan @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:03AM
Edge data was touchy today in center city, philadelphia. If you tried to connect twice it usually worked.
Garst @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:05AM
My phone says..."Unregistered SIM"! But that's probably because it's a prepay phone and I never put any minutes on it other than the $10 that came with the phone.
Charlie Calhoun @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:15AM
No problems at all this week, or ever really... I'm over Seattle area, Kitsap County side.
Nathan @ Feb 3rd 2008 5:31AM
Spotty coverage on the East Side of WA. I think that it is because God is trying to kill us. First he shuts down the only real pass between Seattle and here with snow so we can't get our essential goods, then he clogs up our roads so we can't get outta town. Now he is slowly cutting our communications with the rest of the world so we can't ask for help.
Anyone have a suggestion for a place to live in the continental US that doesn't get snow and is not in the Southwest, Southeast, Texas or Hawaii?
Charlie Calhoun @ Feb 3rd 2008 6:27AM
dude, totally where I live, we didn't get like ANY snow. See I live a 10 minute drive and a 35 minute ferry ride from seattle, and I'm surrounded by a large body of water that rarely changes temperature, the snow simply doesn't get here that easy. Granted last monday was a snow day, that was like a 1/4 inch of snow, and only on the plants, nothing on the ground, and they cancelled school... not my problem heh heh. The next day was pretty much DRY and it was a 2-hour late start. Point being, this little island is not a problem when it comes to snow, ever... except in 1990... also, according to AT&T there are 3 towers on the island alone, so no service areas are geographical problems, valleys and such, they also say there are no 3G towers except Seattle, but that their network is so powerful, it coveres the entire island from Seattle.
Kurtis @ Feb 3rd 2008 4:47PM
Rockport, Texas
It got down to 35 once in January (in the middle of the night) but it mostly hovers around the 60's and 70's in the winter... On the coast, and great fishing too.
Jack Storm @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:15AM
ooo soo is that why the comment system is all messed up?
suuure blame it on att
geoff @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:22AM
In Chicago here - hit by the outage earlier this week, but, no problems today.
MikeE @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:22AM
Data has been ok, but I've been having reception problems which I never have...it drops down to 1 bar all of a sudden and then 30 secs later I have a strong signal...Chicago-South Side
mandaj @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:22AM
we've had no problems up here in Anchorage, Alaska
Will @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:35AM
My iPhone's showing "No Service" here on the SF Bay Peninsula.
Darayz @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:28AM
All clear in Manhattan
diablojota @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:35AM
My calls have been dropping a lot the past day or so. Lots of spot issues and really slow edge speeds here in north florida (panhandle).
Rich @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:36AM
Southern New Jersey.. It was out for 2 hours today. I thought my iPhone was broke AGAIN! (I have had bad luck getting a working one that stays working!)
giantenemycrab @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:37AM
DON'T WORRY. Typical sensational bullcrap I've come to expect from Engadget. They are just updating their spy/snooping hardware, that's what's causing the outages, no biggie. Those things don't install themselves!
BowserUSC @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:37PM
Why are you such a douche bag?
Kurtis @ Feb 3rd 2008 4:50PM

bdkennedy1 @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:41AM
I didn't have a complete outage. But I had 5 dropped calls in 5 minutes tonight.
hangebokhan @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:40AM
In Alfred, NY (the literal middle of nowhere, in a gorge) we normally have ok phone service, I get five bars and my calls don't drop. As of late my calls have started to drop, even with five bars, to teh point where I cannot even place a call. It is intermittant, not perminate my any means.
oki @ Feb 3rd 2008 2:46AM
I had problems today, it was going up and down and just sometimes just slow
Evan @ Feb 3rd 2008 3:05AM
More bars in more places...
insertAlias @ Feb 3rd 2008 3:05AM
I haven't had any problems in San Antonio, TX.
KianTech @ Feb 3rd 2008 3:11AM
Im in San Luis Obispo, CA and I have noticed worse signal and sometimes my phone connects and roams on T-Mobile.
w00fy @ Feb 3rd 2008 3:27AM
EDGE issues for me in Boston. I lost data service for a couple of hours this afternoon.
David @ Feb 3rd 2008 3:55AM
Many dropped calls in the Boston area. Usually within 5 minutes of a call, then suddenly no service for 2-3 min.
Ken B. @ Feb 3rd 2008 5:05AM
On 2 Feb my iPhone could not activate edge for 5 hours. The outtage may have been longer, but I had been able to use wifi until I decided to go off campus. I called customer service and stayed on the phone for 15 minutes only to get hung up on. This occurred in Birmingham, AL. Power cycles did not help.
Jordan @ Feb 3rd 2008 5:28AM
Could this have to do with the reallocation of spectrum in anticipation of the analog network shutoff privilege this month?
Philster @ Feb 3rd 2008 7:03AM
Been having problems with EDGE all week. iPhone couldn't connect to network almost all day Saturday.
No problems with my Sidekick on the T-Mo network, though...
It may be time to unlock my iPhone(?!!)
Bob S. @ Feb 3rd 2008 8:48AM
EDGE was outin NW Ohio from about noon until early this morning. Kept getting the dreaded "HTTP Error 400: Bad Request". A call to support (business) at first was faced with frustration until the guy admitted he just got an email about a "data outage" in many areas. Apparently it didn't hit all areas. I'm back working this morning. :)
Mathew @ Feb 3rd 2008 8:56AM
No problems here in Louisville, KY.
G Man @ Feb 3rd 2008 9:35AM
I had sporadic service outages yesterday in NYC, particularly at night. Edge was dropping out and service would be lost at other times.
Pranil @ Feb 3rd 2008 9:37AM
Way too many dropped calls down hear in Rockland County, New York.
