Official: 16GB iPhone available and 32GB iPod touch -- both $499

Out of the rumor mill comes the 16GB iPhone, now official. Ever since the 16GB iPod touch was announced in September, we all knew it was just a matter of time until Apple could bung the same NAND capacity into their chubbier iPhone. The surprise is a new 32GB iPod touch for the same $499. No other changes and certainly not 3G. Both are available immediately.
Update: We just spoke with Apple, who told us that by available immediately, that means both US and international customers. They should start making their way to stores over the next couple of days, too, so call ahead to check stock if you're buying offline. Also, Cupertino had no comment on whether there were any other under-the-hood hardware changes in these new models.

Well about time..now to figure out how I'll get that iphone (rob a bank?) and unlock it :D
Wake me up when Apple starts selling a 80ish gig Touch for $350 or less. Archos seems to be able to make a similar product for that price.
You are gonna be waiting a long time because the Touch uses flash memory and is more expensive than the regular hard drive that is in the Archos players.
Incidentally, has anyone noticed that the new iPhone suffers from the really poor black reproduction in videos? Mine is having a TON of issues displaying proper black levels on the right viewing angle.
Can anyone else confirm this? I'm hoping an exchange will clear this all up, although I doubt it. Probably the entire batch is no good, and I'll have to wait a few weeks before a new, fixed batch shows up...
Anyway, can someone else who just got a 16GB iPhone confirm that they have the negative black issue as well?
if the iphone had a user replaceable battery Steve, then your customers could overcome the 3G battery issue.

Is it possible to purchase an iphone in the u.s. and then take it to a t-mobile in germany, in order to utilize it with a german account?
Gee, I wonder if this one is going to crash? I lost my numbers twice in six months. I had a Treo for three years and never lost them once. I dunno. I guess I'm just bitter.
Kali, my iphone never crashed. So far so good. I got it from J&R, so I am covered by the warranty anyway.
