Nokia's N82 now in black -- $629 unlocked
After having scooped the world with the first press shots of the N82 in silver, Intomobile brings us the first shots of the N82 in black. Nothing else is new. Then again, with a 5 megapixel camera, xenon flash, Carl Zeiss glass and quad-band GSM with HSDPA data, assisted GPS, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, FM Tuner, 3.5-mm jack, microSD slot, and 2.4-inch auto-rotating display... is there anything you're missing? Oh right, HSDPA on US frequencies would be damn nice if Nokia hopes to grow their domestic presence. $629 is the unlocked cost, but hey, shipping is free.

At least now it's not horrifyingly ugly - it's just ugly. :)
(and pricey, too!)
Dahk @ Feb 6th 2008 10:31AM
This thing is sexy in actual sight, and there's something unquantifiable that just FEELS amazing. It might be the amazing keys, might be the nice screen, might be the good solid thickness that doesn't feel like its going crack in half, but regardless, its awesome.
And now, the black is even sexier.
CB17 @ Feb 6th 2008 4:31AM
And those keys are small too.

Forget this Nokia. Nokia has tons of cheaper better looking phones. By the way the Samsung F700 looks way better than the Iphone. Frankly the Iphone is underwhelming aesthetic wise. Especially with the ugly silver trim. The Iphone should be all black. Ditch the silly silver fingerprint magnet too.
You can always bet on black.

Title of the article: "Nokia's N82 now in black -- $629 unlocked"
Not "How the iPhone looks like - bitch away"

I kind of like it, though the location of the call/end keys seems stupid to me. The real downer here though is I have an iPhone and once you've used it it's hard to appreciate others phones, even when the feature set of the other devices are better than the iPhone's.
*sorry for bring up the iPhone*
Argot @ Feb 6th 2008 9:47AM
Yeah. The iPhone is really shiny and nice... Oh, look at the bright colours.

It's neither too small, nor too fiddly actually guys. I've had one for months here in England. You guys must just suffer the 'sausage finger syndrome' or something... :oP
I put 'Fring' on mine last night, well worth checking out if your a Symbian/WinMo user.
(Free software that provides multi-protocol VOIP and a multi-protocol instant messenger for your phone for those out of the loop. It works over both cellular and wi-fi networks. Recently updated to include file transfers straight from/to your onboard phone storage.)

nice phone

Domestic presence? That would be Finland, not the USA.
While you're right it might be worth them increasing their presence in the USA, thats not their domestic market.
Matias Korhonen @ Feb 6th 2008 8:20AM
I had the same thought when I saw that.
jackofshadows@mac.com @ Feb 6th 2008 10:57AM
uh, gee, Wired is a US published rag/virtual rag, so maybe 'domestic' is correct because it isn't a bloody European publication!
Think before engaging mouth (or in this case typing bloody shite on the keyboard)
pdexter @ Feb 6th 2008 6:14AM
It looks okish now and if you want one of the best camera phones this is the thing.
This phone would be a killer with 2.6 screen and a bit slimmer(with 5mpx camera it wont be easy thought) well maybe we get that with the ME or i edition ;)
Brian @ Feb 6th 2008 6:35AM
It's beautiful... but what the hell is up with that keyboard? I swear, I have a 30 year old zenith tv remote that has those keys... and they were awful.
Pdexter @ Feb 6th 2008 6:50AM
Those buttons arent really bad there isnt a problem with fast txting and so on, but with marathon txting your fingers will get worn out.
DrXym @ Feb 6th 2008 6:52AM
That's a very chunky phone. I have a Nokia 6300 and I have to say I love it. Beautiful screen, thin and easy to use.
bigdoggie @ Feb 6th 2008 7:52AM
This phone looks awesome, I don't know why you guys think it's ugly..
Vaishak Suresh @ Feb 6th 2008 7:57AM
I've had the silver version of the phone and absolutely love it! Keys need a little getting used to, but then its breeze! ( I type over 100 text messages a day). This is the fastest smart phone I've seen.
xenon @ Feb 6th 2008 9:00AM
Thank god there is no new spec's. They usually add a new feature and squeeze in an "i" after the name of the phone few months after everyone have already bought one
Jah @ Feb 6th 2008 9:03AM
Not just BT but BT 2 and AD2P. So many wonderful features :)
Anthony @ Feb 6th 2008 1:54PM
That's a damn good looking phone- finally. Too bad I received my N95 8gb yesterday (which replaces a k850 & before that the original N95). But the screensize is huge on the N95 & dinky on the N82. I made a good choice, but black definitely looks better than silver.
Ypoknons @ Feb 6th 2008 4:46PM
Black really helps this phone. Its build quality is a big step over the N73 too, though admitting the N73 has more fun color schemes.
Steve @ Apr 4th 2008 8:52PM
where can you buy this...
