Sony PSP sends kid to hospital with leg burns -- that'll teach him to play it in school
A Michigan Middle School student learned the hard way about bringing video games to school when his PSP battery overheated in his pocket during band practice, sending him to the hospital with leg burns. Apparently students are allowed to bring the systems to school as long as they don't play them during school hours -- a policy which we're sure the children follow to the letter. There's no word from Sony on the incident yet, or whether the kid was using a shady third party battery inside the system.

Is it wrong that this thread is giving me more entertainment value than an actual PSP could?
Lol, I saw this on the local news. They said that the kid stopped dropped and rolled, right in the middle of band practice.
It's kinda funny...although I feel sorry for the kid, but it's funny that finally a PSP 'blowed up'. Battery manufacturers don't really care about the quality of their products...buy original PSP battery. Btw as a new PSP owner I recently found this site, that uses Google to find free sony PSP games that can be downloaded asap: http://www.rapidpsp.com is it really working?
I live just about 2 miles from where this happened , it was all over the Metro Detroit news stations because it was in Madison Heights MI
Am I the only one who thinks this kid was a moron for not noticing that the PSP was getting hot, and taking it out of his pocket *before* it sent him to the hospital?
Even if he had a high pain tolerance, you'd still think he would've felt *some* form of pain before the situation escalated into hospital territory.
Even if he *was* in Middle School, I'm sure he had to be smart enough to take it out of his pocket before it caused major damage. Something sounds awful fishy to me...
