Did Bill Gates find a job?
Not that we were too worried, but Bill Gates may have found that job he was looking for. Patty Stonesifer, CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and former Microsoft VP, said that she would vacate her position on January 1st, 2009 but will remain with the organization. Perhaps the move has something to do with her giving away $16 billion of Bill's hard-earned stash? The obvious successor of course, is Mr. Gates who chairs the foundation and vacates his position at Microsoft this summer. However, the foundation's new CEO has not been officially named. That leaves direct control over its $38.7 billion endowment up for grabs. Don't let the fact that Chinese women want him and Americans want to be him deter you from applying.

the only reason i would want to be him would be so i could hit myself in the face with a shovel.
A gold plated shovel?
Obviously as your nose begins to bleed all over your warm turtleneck sweater and tight blue jeans.
Oh wait, you didn't mean any harm to that man.
I would love to be that man though, "so i could hit myself in the face with a shovel."
@ Superprime
Gold? What are you, cheap? Bill uses only the highest grade platinum for smashing his face!
I'd love to be Bill Gates... If only to beat Nigel over the head with my "high-grade platinum" shovel.
Jealous much?
Zeus, that aint Bill's style, more like he'd steal MY shovel then paint it red and hit me in the face with that (while claiming a huge leap in shovel to face interfacing technology)
But god forbid that you would ever want to go back to a regular steel shovel. Completely out of the question.
Why did she give away bill's money. oh i now get it
Jealous much?
I don't give two flying hoots where Mr. Bill works next, just as long as I can be his replacement at Microsoft.
I live near a Del Webb retirement community and lots of retired millionaires or well to do people work jobs at McD's to fill their day. I'd kill to see Bill Gates do the same. Would you like Fries or an OS with that?
If that fails, he could always get a Job working for Mr.Jobs. Or should that be Steve McJobs?
He is going to swap jobs with Jobs, just for the fun of it!!!
Ugh, exclamation mark abuse.
Losing $16B? What is that another gaming division? Yeah, get rid of that chick!
I bet if Bill took over, he could turn that foundation into a money maker!
Suuuuure you could
Um, you do realize this is a charitable foundation, right? She didn't "lose" $16 billion, she gave it away. That was her job.
@paul: Did the lack of [sarcasm] tags throw you off?
*hits paul over the head with a platinum-plated clue-by-four*
I hope he does take the lead at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. There's some really great potential for it to improve the quality of tech-related education in the US. I just hope that he has the foresight to fund projects that won't necessarily benefit Microsoft.
"Americans want to be him"
let's not forget that just LESS than half of the people surveyed wanted to "be him"
...for being such a rich man, it's surprising that LESS than half of the people would want to be him. THat sounds like a negative more than a positive.
That also means that half the world doesn't want to be as rich as Bill - > I am one of them!! Just think of the consequences for being rich?? You can rarely breathe fresh air! My policy : Eye more but not the most! Enjoy life with what you have and work hard for little more than what you have accomplished already. Spend time with family and rest in peace finally!!
Hey, the comment about Chinese women is not cool.
why do you single out chinese women? I'm pretty sure women of all nationality want to marry him
