It's no secret that
DirecTV has been adding HD locals at a pleasantly quick rate of late, but apparently, it's not even close to being finished. According to a user in Louisville, Kentucky, DTV has just recently flipped the switch on locals in high-definition, and direct word from yet another subscriber in the
Cedar Rapids / Waterloo, Iowa area confirms that he too is receiving CBS, NBC and FOX in HD (though ABC is strangely absent). Furthermore, we're hearing rumblings that customers in Wichita / Hutchinson, Kansas, Paducah, Kentucky and Cape Girardeau, Missouri should join the HD local camp any day now (like today), while those parked in Omaha and Lincoln / Hastings, Nebraska can expect 'em on February 13th and early May, respectively. If we just rung your bell, hit us up in comments below to confirm or deny, would ya?
[Thanks, Bryan and Rod]
This is great news for all you mid-westerners. Wish they would hurry up and extend the goods to those of us in SE Washington state. OTA will have to do for now! D-11 launching on time (at least on time this time) will give me hope!
I'm still at a loss as to how they choose markets. Cape Girardeau gets their HD locals, but not Columbia, Mo.?
This is great but the only Local HD broadcasts in central Nebraska is Public TV and 10/11(CBS). I would like to know when the local ABC, Fox,and NBC will be going HD. If anyone knows please share.
No dice in Louisville KY yet even though DTV site says we have the big ones.
OSTING, what do you mean? I'm getting two channels of WAVE, WHAS, WLKY, and WDRB. Do you have the newer dish and an HD receiver? You need the 5LNB dish to see the new channels. The HD receiver will work with the older 3LNB dishes, but they won't handle all of the HD channels, just some of them. And you need to have both of the coax lines running into the back of your receiver to also be hooked up to the B Band Converters (BBCs) that came with the receiver.
NBC, CBS and FOX are in HD over the sattelite here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Still no ABC though. SD only. Also noticed that the CBS feed does not seem to be dolby digitial.
Wichita got ABC (10), CBS (12) and FOX (24) on 2/6. Left off was NBC (3).
Confirmed in Cedar Rapids, D* has KGAN (CBS) KWWL (NBC) and KFXA (FOX). They have not come to an agreement with Cedar Rapids Gazette Co (KCRG) ABC yet for retransmit rights (sources close to the discussion who I've spoken with, also known as some guy on avs forum states they're close however).
Hey Shawn, any more information on the negotiations between DirecTv and KCRG? I had an email from the GM at KCRG and he said they had an offer last summer, but they hadn't heard from D* lately.
Confirmed in Paducah/Cape Girardeau/Harrisburg market.
