We've already seen plenty of oio iterations from
Explay, but apparently this here "oio companion" is the real deal, and it'll be shown off at Mobile World Congress next week. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean we're getting any solid price or release details just yet, pretty much this new render is all. The mobile nanoprojector uses hybrid laser and LED light sources, and features an "always in focus" capability, low power consumption and an "affordable price." According to Explay, customers and carriers are currently being polled for input on the commercial rollout, so be sure to let Explay know in the comments how excellent of a pricepoint $5 would be. You can thank us later, Explay.
I'd buy THAT for a dollar!
Aha i've just finished watching robocop :)
Heck, I might even pay £10 for this!
Actually, make that £5...
Or £1...
Or free, delivered to my door. :D
I'd pay $50. Honestly.
That's one of the least "rendery" looking render... i could be convinced that it actually exists.
I don't really see the point to this, until can fit inside a cellphone, that is. even then it seems a bit like a gimmick without much real-world use.
Mitsubishi's LED pk Pocket projector was around $400. Since this is around half the size; so that means it should half the price, right?...
yeah. Half the size means DOUBLE the price. Basic rule of electronics! :)
Don't know if I'd pay $5 for QVGA...OK, I'd pay $5 for QVGA because I'm a gadget addict... But I'd really rather have 1152x720 (720p HDTV) or a more traditional 1280x1024 for my $5.
I'd probably settle for a useable 1024x768 for some uses, and I might go $50 at that resolution (and at least 36" diagonal); it would be handy for places I want a display without taking up space or putting a display in danger - like next to the stove or sink - watching low-res TV while getting supper ready or looking up recipes online. The ability to have a relatively small size at decent distance (24" diagonal at 84" distance) would make the device handy for such situations.
That brings up a point: no specs are given, either in resolution or min/max size. Well, if it's cheap enough, doesn't matter as much.
Come on guys!
you are totally not serious!
If I look back to protoype images, I would pay 180$ This might be in the 500$ and
+ price range.
This can be very useful for a laptop when you work in team!
Can't wait to see videos and pictures of the working product.
I would pay £50 for that!
I really like this oio nano projector as it is more useful and convenient for business people when they are travelling. Of course, it also can link with camera to show your beautiful picture easily!
