iWave Cube, the personal portable microwave

The EPA estimates that nearly 100 million unused televisions are currently taking up precious, beautiful space. (source: EPA, July 2008)

I remember iwave. They made one of the first pda's to run the intel belvedere chip. It's sad to see them go from that to microwaves.
So by "portable," they mean "not really all that portable."
Yeah.. It's just as portable as the XPS 2010.
Next Apple© will release a "iWave Air™."
The portable microwave that is only 3 pounds, less than one inch thin, can't accommodate any food except tortillas, and has no buttons on it so you have to set the microwave time wirelessly on another computer.
Gotta love how some people confuse the terms portable with mobile. Portable just means you can port it around easily. You know ... Move it. Port-able meaning able to be ported. Absolutely nowhere does that mean "usable while on the move". I used to have a portable tv back in the day that was just small and had a handle. You still had to plug it in. Mobile means you can use it on the go.
This microwave seems very portable to me. It just does not seem like a mobile device. Another example ... Do a search for portable carpet cleaning equipment. Tons of those and absolutely all of them need to be plugged in. The definition of portable does not change just because its posted in a tech blog.
inc Apple lawyer attack?
Apple does not own lowercase letter i...
No, not even at the start of a word!
I saw one of those at Sharper Image about a week ago.
Why?
I already coined the 'iWave' back in May 2007 :)

A kleenex box? Aparently:
1) I am unfmailiar with exactly how large kleenex boxes are.
2) That won't be able to microwave anything larger than a cup of coffee.
Either way I'm confused.
Yeah, a cubic foot Kleenex box would be a pretty big Kleenex box. For a closer comparison, a standard sheet of paper is 11 inches tall.
Yes, coffee, a cup of soup and very, very small cheese crisps.
Or maybe the volume of the inside is the size of a kleenex box? (what you can microwave)
Or possibly a "Hot Pocket"
Michael you're only confusing things with your paper comparison, it's 11 inches for a start, and really thin.
This is the best I can think of for all the people who don't know how big a foot is but do know, or can find out, how big a Kleenex box is:
As big as a stack of Mansize Kleenex boxes, 2 wide and 5 tall.
And it weighs as much as a large newborn baby.
Make that May 2006!
I think it is a lovely design.
If it comes with a car adapter, I'm set.
Fresh snacks (popcorns, pizza pops) while on a roadtrip! ... brilliant... i hope it has one.
Just get a 25 buck inverter at an electronics shop.
Unfortunately, most microwaves draw more power than outlets in most cars can support...I wonder how much wattage this requires...

how is 10" x 10.5" x 12" the size of a kleenex box? oh, right. this is the same guy who doesn't know the difference between a kilowatt and a kilowatt-hour.
This obsession with the i- prefix needs to stop.
Remember when the i used to stand for something? Like on the original iMac, when it stood for "Internet"?
Are we sure the microwave doesn't have a browser?
But yeah, I totally agree with you. Companies instantly lose all credibility with me the moment I see that i.
Oh yes... I had forgotten but you have just reignited the burning rage I used to feel at the sacrilege of using a lower case i to represent Internet.
great writing, horrible product
$130 is a little expensive for a Hackintosh case.
This has to be the stupidest product ever. Not really portable, and extremely overpriced.
The market for it has to be for the Eric Cartman's that are so fucking lazy playing Ragnarok, that they cannot get up to nuke their hotpockets.
Aww, no usb powered version? I wanto to stick my laptp in the microwave and have it cook itself with its own usb power!!!
A Kleenex box that's a cubic foot big? Is the writer of this post the Jolly Green Giant by any chance?
So it's the weight of a Clevo laptop...
Inside construction workers have been transporting any old microwave onto the building sites for several years. The bigger and cheaper, the better. Especially the high wattage models. Fifty pound models are a bit much, but then we have trucks and cars that aren't usually able to supply 1000 watts at 120 volts. I would likely need a 200 pound battery.
this would be awesome for a camera truck/grip truck.
"hey, can you go over to crafty and get me something?"
"all the way to crafty? why bother? behold, pizza bagels!"
i await the three of you who know what I'm talking about to agree with me. i'm so sold.
I would have called it the portanuke.
I'm very sick right now, and happen to have a box of kleenex with me. Kleenex box = 203 cubic inches. A cubic foot is 1728 cubic inches. So you can fit about 8.5 boxes of Kleenex into a cubic foot. Maybe people shouldn't drink and blog.
When i look at that logo, i read "wave icube". fantastic design.....
Apple Appliance!
So I don't see any spec's on this thing. Is it 10 watts? 100? 1000?
How can we trust the "blogging media" when they don't even know what a cubic foot is?
a breifcase for your wife!
WARNING: Not to be used with the door open along Dick Cheney Parade routes.
If Apple made household applicances.
Will it blend?
No, but it will microwave..... ;P
Your avatar awakened weird, mixed feelings within me.
That's one big Kleenex box!!!
I like the look of this microwave. I am almost tempted to get one. Except I think that one day we are going to learn that regular microwave use bends your chromosomes or something. I don't own a microwave.
My chromosomes are bent anyway, so I have no problems with this product.
How long until there is a skype application for it?
Just what we need- portable microwave device... could probably be hacked or made to leak and set somewhere in hiding at a sporting event.
Yay! Tech-aware terrorists FTW!
Its to small, I couldnt pop popcorn in it!
Looks interesting, i wonder if it comes with some kind of handle.
i want one
