Hands-on with Sony Ericsson's world-beating XPERIA X1

When we saw the XPERIA X1 announced yesterday we pretty much flipped our collective geeky lids, this handset is the stuff mobile dreams are made of. There is nothing to gripe about here and while our play date was short-lived -- and very supervised -- we did get a chance to peek at the rather unfinished UI, fit and finish, and did we mention the frickin' screen on this phone? Wah! It's like paper. This handset just can't come soon enough -- for those of you not listening earlier, that'll be late Q2 -- but until then you'll just have to live with pics.

I hope the Xperia experience is better than the P990 experience. touted as a great phone but bugged to death
Hey, what the hell is with that annoying AOL survey ad that covers up the article? There is no close button, and hitting "No" doesn't do anything... I know you guys are owned by AOL (i think?) but that doesn't mean they should be able to have broken ads that cover up articles and don't go away!

Adblock Plus - Use it, love it, pass it on.
1 word. Where is the f*$&ing email search that I have only seen on Blackberry. Mobile email systems without a search sucks! I have to carry an iPhone and a Blackberry cuz I can't stand no cut and paste, no email search and typing on a glass. This baby seems to have everything and hope email search, easy 2 clicks new email/reply will come with it.
so what do you need an iPhone for?
So do you switch out the SIMs or are you super-crazy-rich enough to have two cell accounts with data/email on both?
All windows mobile 6 pro (if not wm6 standard and wm5 too) phones have this. In the e-mail app, just start typing...
I hate to say this, but maybe it's just the iPhone that sucks...?

The big problem from what I see is that you can't dock the phone. The USB connector is on the side and the headphone connector on the top. WTF!? So much for using it in the car.
i doubt any carrier will sell it. Its ultra high end, but SE isn't known enough for a carrier to promote it. Look at the N95-3.
Verizon won't carry this phone?
Really? But I want it ;_;
Looks nice, got to actually "touch" it at MWC today. I understand it uses an ARM processor (ARM11?) that runs at 520MHz, so it does have some juice. It was also explained that the "tiles" are like virtualized widgets, ones that allow you to run customized user "experiences" or environments. One environment I was most happy to see was Windows Mobile. This is a big deal, even if they go to other OS's later for the experiences....Windows Mobile made it first :)

People in the U.S. might not be used to paying $500 for a phone.
However people in East Asia and Europe are use to pay for the whole phone and not being tied to a 2 year contract.
Look at streets on Hong Kong / Tokyo and you'll see even typical high school students use high-end camera / smart phones.
It's just like L.V. for Girls, every boy wants a high end cellphone.
If the winmo version in this beauty handles pocket dictionary, and if the phone has a decent battery time when using the FM-radio, Apple just got a contender for my money.
More classy than the (in comparison) flashy iPhone, and considering it’s a SE handset sporting 3G it will surely have much better support in Sweden than current version iPhones. Heck, it will probably even be available in Sweden in Q2 this year right at the world premiere.
I dont know about NA but in Europe this will probably show at almost 0 cost with contract. Look @ Samsung F700 that everyone said it would cost more then the iPhone and came out with Vodafone for almost 0 with a 12 months contract.
Yes!!! this phone is my answer to not getting a damn sidekick lx, this and the N96 shall b my phones this year, does anyone know if i could put aim on this phone?
well i dont think it will be the expensice because its coming from sony...and sony can get expensive but not with their phones....look at the mylo...lets pretend this is the mylo but just a bit better ...so i say from 5 to maybe 7 hundred..
Forget Opera and WinMo browsers. Get SkyFire when it comes out:

I don't know why these guys didn't quote a price to wed this beauty.I'm exited but maybe this is where you you ask "Will you marry me?" and the answer you get might just be the deciding factor whether or not to indeed commit yourself!!!!
So are we getting an answer? What is the asking price?
