No question about it, the
N78 and the
N96 are the heavies in Nokia's Mobile World Congress announcements, but there are a couple gems on the lower end, too -- if you can really call a navigation-ready handset and a 5 megapixel smartphone "lower end." Taking advantage of the company's newly-introduced Maps 2.0 app, the 6210 Navigator succeeds the
6110 by adding pedestrian navigation and an accelerometer to make it more responsive than AGPS alone. The 6220 classic, meanwhile, is an S60 candybar that slots in beneath the Nseries lineup, but still manages to clean up in the photography department with a Carl Zeiss lens, 5 megapixel sensor, and xenon flash. Check out the full rundown of the announcements over on Engadget Mobile!

Both are good phones, but the design is a bit... well... Nokia.

The map on the end looks like driving into a minefield.. who wants to drive into that? And get lost?
Poom @ Feb 11th 2008 5:00AM
You can turn those landmarks off.

Anyone know if the E71 will be released at the MWC?
Pdexter @ Feb 11th 2008 8:41AM
Live stream said "thats it from N series team" so we still got E series and some middle range phones coming?
They better release E71 in MWC!

Traveling with Firefox on a thumb drive so apologies if I managed to double post!
Any chance this pedestrian mode has a voice option to speak where you are and what is near?

Used the 6120C and I liked it. The 6220C is a worthy upgrade for the 6120C with better camera and hopefully more RAM.

I've seen this in action and it is frigging awful. Its like a load of icons got puked over the map. In a big city the icons become so dense as to obscure the street names, especially when you are more zoomed out. It is truly horrible. The build that I saw had no option to turn off the icons, but I'm guessing that will come in a final roll out.
