ZiPhone: jailbreak any version iPhone out of the box, including 1.1.3
We're not yet entirely sure how it works, but iPhone hacker Zibri's just released a new app he's calling ZiPhone, which claims to jailbreak any version iPhone -- including new 1.1.3 phones right out of the box -- without messy downgrades and baseband changes. We haven't tested it ourselves, but prepare for the onslaught of downloaders to take it offline in five... four... three...
[Thanks, Tyler and Eugene]
Update (2/13): Looks like v2 is out, and it's capable of downgrading the bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9. Thanks, Yuri.

I already used this apps an it i worked flawlessly on mu OTB 1.1.2 iphone whit out even downgrading, word to the wise thought when first ran the app i only did a jailbreak since my phone is AT&T activated, once it was done i couldn't get a signal and had to restore it back then on the app select jailbreak and activate then when it was done my iphone started working whit out any probs
Tom @ Feb 12th 2008 3:54AM
that's what i had to do for the official dev team (which seems to be 'iphone elite' now) upgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 version 3
i was annoyed but on their site they said "when it says hit no if you have AT&T, hit YES even if you have AT&T"
i didn't know it would be necessary for me to read their site when it seemed simple enough as it was
Mitch @ Feb 12th 2008 2:11AM
I'm trying to do this on my wife's touch, but the ziphone wont open, it starts to open for a split second then closes. I tried opening it through run and get the same thing. Any suggestions?
TazgodX @ Feb 12th 2008 2:47AM
you need to open it in command line. go to start/run type 'cmd' browse to your dir you extracted it in, and type "ziphone -j -a" for (-j)Jailbreak (-a)Activate
Dolac @ Feb 23rd 2008 12:58AM
I had no problem using this on vista to jailbreak my ipod touch 8gig, i might add that during the release of this app i was watching the forums and it seemed as though there was some trouble with getting it to work on some 16gig ipods, and the 32gig hadnt been released yet

Sorry if my question is lame ... but if I were to buy an iphone today and use this tool, would I be able to use any SIM ?
Carlz36 @ Feb 12th 2008 2:15AM
As long a the sim you put on the iphone is from an older working phone it should work :D
TazgodX @ Feb 12th 2008 2:48AM
if you buy an iPhone today, and use this to unlock, you will be able to use any sim from AT&T or T-Mobile for US carriers.
ram @ Feb 12th 2008 2:19AM
oh. So, I would need an already iPhone-activated SIM right .. not sure if any of my iphone-toting friends would be not scared enough to hand me their SIM
TazgodX @ Feb 12th 2008 2:51AM
you do not need an activated iphone. one of the arguments you pass is -a meaning activate.
you can connect a brand new iphone with any sim you want, type 'ziphone -a -j'
and then use 'ziphone -u' and it will work no problems!
Aznant @ Feb 12th 2008 2:23AM
I have a 1.0.2 iPhone and its unlocked using AnySim.
Can anyone tell me if i can use this tool to upgrade my phone to 1.1.3 and unlock? I have to first virginize my phone? or just restore it?
danboey @ Feb 12th 2008 2:23AM
any links to the mac version? can't find it for some reason. thx if you can help me out.
TazgodX @ Feb 12th 2008 2:50AM
he removed mac support, it wasn't working so he just removed the mac app untill its fixed.
timothy.abbott @ Feb 12th 2008 3:11AM
i cant find it ether
and its pissing me off!
someone tell me when its back up?
nickbeynonat @ Feb 12th 2008 3:55AM
MAC instructions, download the windows file and unzip.
run Itunes and then turn your phone off normally.
Turn your phone on by holding HOME button the pressing Power button, continue to hold HOME until you get the connect to itunes screen.
Run Terminal and navigate to the Ziphone folder you just downloaded.(remember terminal is CASE SENSITIVE ex. cd Desktop/Ziphone run the ls command to make sure your inside that directory.
Then type chmod 777 ziphone
terminal should not respond with anything
then type ./ziphone -j -a
let it run and your done.
I got a bus error msg, apparently it has something to do with the mobile.frameworks file. if all else fails get yourself to a computer with XP.
Vgamer911 @ Feb 12th 2008 2:33AM
does it work for future update of the iphone
benji @ Feb 12th 2008 2:38AM
Yes, I have confirmed that this does work on iphones version 1.1.4 - 2.0.0
Also, iTunes 8.0 removes access to the 64gb SSD in the 2.0.0 iPhones.
R Cervantes @ Feb 12th 2008 2:53AM
wow... that should be elected as the most lame question of the year...
kingkael @ Feb 12th 2008 7:30PM
Its working for me but you should know that some people are having problems with their 3G connection and real-time google maps.
JaceFace @ Feb 12th 2008 2:39AM
I'll just add that it works!!! And I couldn't be happier!!
I ran it from windows inside of parallels. its easy, and here is how to do it: (took me a bit to figure it out)
1- Download the ZiPhone.zip file from the link in the article
2- Copy that folder to the root of your windows directory (C:/ZiPhone) You can actually put it anywhere, but this is probably the easiest.
3- Open the Command Prompt application in windows
4- Type CD \ so it looks like C:/cd \ when you are finished, and press enter
5- Type CD ZiPhone and press enter
6- Type ziphone -j and press enter
7- Follow the instructions that it gives you
Thats it!!!
Hope this helps. It would have helped me an hour ago!
Fatima @ Feb 12th 2008 2:58AM
WoW so easy! Thanks man!
ali.menbari @ Feb 12th 2008 4:55PM
Should the phone be connected to iTunes before you do the command prompt and run the program?
James @ Feb 12th 2008 2:45AM
I couldn't get the app to work with vista...

For the people who are unlocked and on 1.1.3 - do you have problems with your ringer? I'm currently on 1.1.1, but haven't upgraded because I've heard of people saying that their ringer stops working (everything else is fine).
Justin B @ Feb 12th 2008 2:53AM
These people simply need to reset their sound/audio settings.
I can't jailbreak due to a shitty phone. The damned wifi jsut won't connect to ANYTHING.
bioslug @ Feb 12th 2008 4:07AM
i ran the program just as described.. ziphone -j -a it proceeded normally, said it was done.. loaded back up.. its not jailbroken.. its just the same as it was before i ran the program...
please help...
Eric @ Feb 12th 2008 4:32AM
I currently have a 1.1.1 jailbroken phone. My question is, would it be easier to/could i just upgrade to 1.1.3 using itunes and then use this software to jailbreak it again instead of having to upgrade 1.1.1-1.1.3? doing the long steps?
lianne777 @ Feb 16th 2008 10:41AM
yeah!!
BTW its not unlocked.. its only jailbroken..
Heres what i did
I upgraded from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3 (i guess 1.1.2-->1.1.3 is fine)
then
Do what the program commanded you like Holding the iPhone's switch..
then wait for it... after the program ends your phone should be
unlock.
I checked the 3 settings:
Jailbreak
Activate and
the Unlock even though the Unlock didn't work
lianne777 @ Feb 12th 2008 4:59AM
OMG!!
DANG IT WORKS on 1.1.3..
I was able to unlock and jailbreak my 1.1.1 iphone to 1.1.3 iphone for just 10 seconds!! I guarantee it!!
Eric @ Feb 12th 2008 5:18AM
so are you saying to just upgrade to 1.1.3 and then use the program?
Pentium @ Feb 12th 2008 5:21AM
It's keep getting better and better....!
Gilly @ Feb 12th 2008 5:28AM
Sorry, but the Question is still open:
Can i Upgrade an already with AnySim unlocked 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 iPhone to 1.1.3 and everything is fine?
Horst @ Feb 12th 2008 5:44AM
What about the SDK for the iphone which should be out by errrmm.... now?
Does anybody still think about that?
Won't it solve all the problems and make any unlocks/jailbreaks irrelevant for the future?
Still: Nice app...
spencer @ Feb 12th 2008 6:01AM
I just tested this out, works perfectly and only took 60 seconds!
Thanks!
VarunR39 @ Feb 12th 2008 6:18AM
Does anyone know if i could use this to upgrade from a 1.1.1. and if it does would i be able to use it with any carrier after the jailbreak?
Curtis @ Feb 12th 2008 6:40AM
that sounds pretty sweet.
will it jailbreak ipod touch?
just wondering like ;)
bioslug @ Feb 12th 2008 7:12AM
got it to work, but youtube is non functional.. any known fixes?
WillisOGeeky @ Feb 25th 2008 1:39PM
Don't know if it applies with the unlock, but if you plug your iphone/ipod touch back into your pc/mac, wait for itunes to sync, then when it is at idle access youtube with the iphone/ipod touch still plugged into your pc/mac and it should work.
topflight @ Feb 12th 2008 7:52AM
I bought the iphone when it first came out and then hacked it with the jailbreakme.com hack. then when 1.1.3 came out somehow it installed it when i thought it was installing the new version of itunes(grr). Then i followed JaceFace's instructions (thank you!) and it now works great! I now have my awesome phone back!
Hatton @ Feb 12th 2008 8:06AM
does ZiPhone actually jailbreak your iPhone and unlock it or does it just jailbreak it
Josh @ Feb 12th 2008 9:02AM
Does anyone know if this fix's location services or hybrid view on google maps for 1.1.3 Unlocked phones? Or does this do the same thing as the previous Jailbreak/Activation just in a prettier process?
Josh
Broo @ Feb 12th 2008 9:15AM
two words...
Woo hoo!
(or should that be one hyphenated word?)
sepirioth @ Feb 12th 2008 9:33AM
But wil it blend?...
Chris Montague @ Feb 12th 2008 9:35AM
If your phone has a pass code lock, make sure to disable it before using this program. It would not work for me until I disabled it. Well done :)
callisto3 @ Feb 12th 2008 10:06AM
i waded through all the comments in zibri's blog and found a link to this how-to on installing this thing: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=655
i don't know if i'm going to do this or not. it's so tempting, but i don't want to mess up my phone either. decisions!
Steve @ Feb 12th 2008 10:12AM
I just ran this in WinXP through Parallels. I have an AT&T Sim, running 1.1.3, and it took all of 3 minutes to run this app. I'm running like normal, except with Installer.app!
Benjamin @ Feb 12th 2008 12:17PM
I can confirm it does work. Updated the phone to 1.1.3 and then used the program. It took less than 10 to do everything.
jandrisani @ Feb 12th 2008 12:52PM
cant get it to work. paralles into win xp, run the app, and it gets to "wait 45"" and just hangs there. let it sit for 15min or so and it doesnt do anything. anyone have the same thing happen?
