iPhone display "bubbles" causing toil and trouble?
Jockeys riding the Apple discussion forums are claiming that their iPhone displays are afflicted with tiny "bubbles." Apparently, the manufacturing issue is recognized by Apple who will replace the phone, no questions asked. So tell us dear readers, bubbles or no bubbles, what's your experience?

Just make it look like it's NOT unlocked before you go in. Mine was jailbroken (not unlocked) - they just made me remove the programs which I did by upgrading from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 (back then). Modify your carrier logo to say ATT and remove any other obvious signs of unlocking or jailbreakin.. .like extra app icons. You'll have to put the ATT sim in there too..
thanx!
it seems i'm getting a new iphone after all!
Unfortunately thats not true. They do have ways of checking if its unlocked or not, like whether it has an active AT&T SIM, plus they have a data base like thing that can tell them whether or not the phone has been and is active on AT&T (or O2 or whatever other carrier for those international readers out there)
I got em. First one, then two, then four, now 6 and climbing
I had the bubbles in the top left corner. Went to Apple and they replaced the phone...no questions asked.
YES, I had bubbles on my phone several months ago and YES Apple replaced my phone no questions asked. Oh.. and YES, I wrote a TIP email to engadget that was ignored like all my tip emails.
I has no bubbliez.
This isn't just me being a fanboi - I got my iPhone on the day it came out and it has been absolutely perfect. Not a single issue.
I have 2 iPhones, purchased 2 months ago in AK when AT&T Bought Dobson(Cellular One). Neither of my phones have bubbles.
The bigger issue is all of the new 8 core Mac Pro's freezing because of the bad ATI HD 2600 graphics cards... Just take a gander at the Mac Pro discussions...
you think if I ask for a 16gb considering I had paid the origial full price for the 8gb, that they may give it to me??? Anyone tried this yet
Apple has a like-for-like policy for repairs/replacements. You give them an 8GB iPhone, you get back an 8GB iPhone.
how do I MAKE mine bubble so I can get a new phone w/out scratches?
Turn your brightness all the way up and find a black background. Now look closely for any pixels (TINY) that are stuck green or grey or any other colour they shouldn't be. BAM! New iPhone.
The geniuses (genii?) are awesome.
My iPhone had a single stuck pixel and they swapped it out with a new one, no questions asked. The Genius I saw was polite and even when having to multi-task with another gentleman's iPod, he stayed cool and humorous.
On a lighter note, discussing it with a friend, I was told that I had to have 1% of the pixels in the display stuck to have it replaced. This sounds reasonable until you do the maths.
The display is 480 x 320, that's a total of 153600 pixels. Let me assure you that I don't have 1536 stuck pixels on my phone.
One was quite enough...
At first, I think it's some dust getting inside my iPhone under the glass,
after watching this post,i'm sure I hv got exactly the same bubble case,
I hv one bubble on the top left corner (near signal bar) and one on the top
right corner near the battery icon
unfortunately I'm living in hong kong so I can't ask for an exchange, that's suck
I have a few bubbles as well -- up under the battery icon.
Are all the replacement phones refurbished? That sounds a little questionable. Seems like I shouldn't have to trade in my "new" iPhone for a refurbished one...
Does anyone know if they always give refurbished phones as replacements?
It could be new or refurbished, and there's no way to tell which is which since all the service phones fall in the same serial number scheme.
I'm surprised my iPhone only has ONE bubble- I dropped it into some water. The thing is a friggin' TANK- I dried it out, charged it, and it works just fine.
I'm reluctant to bring it in- they just may see some water damage...
My ipod touch got a bubble a few weeks ago, none yet in my iphone tho
So, that's wtf that is... I thought it was dirt between the glass and display or something, but looking at it from various angles, it's definitely a bubble. ARGH... so I have to be without iPhone for a couple days to get rid of it... urgh... decisions, decisions...
I got 2 Bubbles! Taking it back.
