Man arrested at gunpoint for using MP3 player
Next time you're reaching down for that iPod or Zune (or anything else for that matter), take care that you don't alarm the authorities with any suspicious movements -- or you could end up like the UK's Darren Nixon. Apparently, the mild-mannered mechanic was on his way home from work when the Bobbies surrounded him and drew their guns, believing that the MP3 player in his pocket was a firearm. According to the Daily Mail, Mr. Nixon was tracked on CCTV, arrested at gunpoint, swabbed for DNA, fingerprinted, and thrown in a cell -- all for listening to a bootleg of Chinese Democracy on a 4GB Philips GoGear. Said Darren, "I was really shocked when I saw the guns. They were pointing them right at me. It was a pretty scary experience. I had no idea what was going on." After the team of Mentat cops realized their mistake, they couldn't even offer an apology, said Nixon, "They just dropped me off at home and said a quick 'sorry for any inconvenience', and that was all I got from them, which I thought was pretty out of order." Once again, a hot serving of sweet justice.

OMG! Have those of you that came behind us no Brains at all? Where on the DNA spiral or which chromosone left you all so Adle Brained that you would ...first of all...BUY an mp3 that looks like an AUTOMATIC REVOLVER, then be STUPID enough to carry it in public, even in your own vehicle????
This guy expects an apology? What for?? HE should be, first Thanking Father God who sent his Guardian Angel, and the the very Police that surrounded him, for their restraint. He is furthermore extremely Blessed that he, apparently, does NOT look like any one of the terrorists on their list. If he did, you'd be reading his Obit.
Lucky he wasn't carrying a concealed sandwich, they would have had to shoot him.
Brandi writes: "And when did the local constabulatory start packing anyway"
Sadly, if I have it right, now there's a special Division, or all except the "Bobbies" carry a weapon now. At least that's all I remember reading a few years ago.It could be that all Police carry...really not sure.
Sam, pull your head out.....if this country is so bad why don't you leave? Its friggin brain dead morons, like yourself, whose constant whining gets so old. I suspect you've never been on the side of trying to protect and serve.....as with most of the articles we see on AOL we do not get the whole story...that would be impossible due to space.....what we can do is try a little investigation on our own and find out what is truly going on.....but you and I both know you are much too lazy to do anything but incessantly whine about things you have no knowledge of....quit your crying, do something for others and if you wanna make us real happy......LEAVE!
Hot serving of sweet justice?
Call it as it is: a mistake made by those in authority who have too much power and are not held accountable by the people.
This is a sure sign the U.K. is a police state.
I have a freind in the UK who 12 year old son was arrested and found guilty of a firearm offense because he had just bought a toy gun at a fair. It was legal to sell it but you could not have it on your person. This child can't live in the United States because he is a criminal. His parents had to turn down jobs in the US and remain in the UK. This child doesn't even know that bacause of this he can't become a teacher ... that was his dream... You think their is no justice in the US be grateful for what you have. Other countries are far worse...
If the cops thought this guy might be carrying a gun, then what they did is what they should have done. No problem there. Better to inconvenience someone than to have their country end up like the United States where they have all of the school shootings, mall shootings, gang shootings and thousands of murders a year, all committed by people with guns. It makes you wonder why people are so annoyed that a cop was trying to stop something bad from happening. You can't find guns without looking. And you can't be right every time either. That should be obvious.
I'm not sure on your laws about "being pulled over by the police" in the UK, but here in America when you are pulled over you are NOT supposed to take you hands off the wheel until the officer instructs you to do so. Your job as a citizens of whatever country you are from is to know YOUR duty and the safety of you and the officers that protect you and your families. If something falls (say your iPod), leave it there, explain it to the officer and I'm sure he/she will allow you to pick it up at the appropriate time. The guns may not even have been an issue if you (as a citizen) would have been a respectful citizen, unless of course you do not have that law in your country. I would definitely check up that before ever doing that again! I'm not belittling you, but I wouldn't want this to happen to an innocent victim as yourself and accidentally get shot. Thanks for reading.
It's common here in the states to use whatever offense however small but within the scope to get fingerprints, dna, whatever. It's about cross-referencing and getting those people in the criminal database so when evidence surfaces they have a bigger pool.
England doesn't have the resources we have in the welfare/medicare,etc. system. Which fosters criminal activity. And the people who watch the cc monitors have a difficult job of erring on the side of public safety.
Ive lived in the U.K. in the early 90's. We americans are extremely ignorant about the IRA and what happens over there. You may not have seen in the news the bombings unless an american was involved. Now there's foriegn terrorists. Educate yourselves.
Next time you have a group of people together for fun,put a couple or few out of the loop and designate them 'police', have a 'criminal'.The rest do random stupid movements.Play 'cops'....it's an eye opening experience.
"England doesn't have the resources we have in the welfare/medicare,etc. system"
stop talking out of your arse you idiot, the welfare and national health system in the UK is lightyears ahead of the USA
see:

when you talk about rights being taken away from
the people in england, we are going to be in the sameboat if either obama or clinton are elected.
both of them are the most antigun people that we
could put in the whitehouse.these two people are
also anti millitary and believe that our country should be under the domination of the u.n.,a totally worthless organization.while i am only luke warm on mc cain,i will still vote for him over
clinton or obama when you think about the loss of rights in england, those loss of rights came with the election of liberals in their government. the same could happen here.
I like my d boobies
Maybe if the world wasn't full of so many gun toting slime balls the police wouldn't have to suspect everyone of having a gun.
MAN...LOOKS LIKE THE TERRORISTS
ARE WINNING...WITHOUT EVEN FIRING
ANOTHER BULLET. AFTER ALL, ISNT THIS
WHAT THEY WANTED..??
All this is the kind of stuff Ron Paul is against - he is the only candidate who wants to return our liberties. All the rest from BOTH parties are going to continue to turn this into a socialist police state ("for our own good"). And BTW - in the hysteria after 9/11 the so-called "Patriot Act" was voted in without the congress-critters even having a copy to read! (FYI - Paul voted "NO")
its amazing all you dumba**es who say its the polices fault lol anyone with common sense would from a distance think a black small item in there hand could be a gun and if i was the officer i would have lit him up with lead just for being dumb enough to point it at me when it obviously looks like a gun, all these comments blaming the police are pathetic just like yourself
In defense of the officers, I believe they arrested this man thinking it may have been possible that he may have had a gun and ditched it noticing that someone had seen it or called notifying them! They have to check it out and arresting him until they get to the bottom of such report may not be a bad thing as what if they didn't and another school shooting or god knows what else took place!?. The issue here would be alot different! Now granted, this should be cleared from his record and many like him are stuck with such things as it often takes an expungement by court (you spending money'REVENUE') to accomplish this. I do carry a gun, often in my car and when asked to see my liscense and registration during an insurance check (road block) I notifye them that there is a gun in the glove box and would prefer them retreiving it first, often they don't concern them selves as I know alot of them and they are good friends. Take into mind how ever that when a cop see's a gun he is justified in taking it hardly and being somewhat defensive in both action as well as attitude for he doesn't know you most of the time and if so maybe your having a bad day or something. Cops don't want to be shot or hurt either! The bad thing about being a cop is like being President...Your Damned if You Do and Your Damned if You Don't! I think they did the right thing even though many may not be happy with it, concider the possabilities if had been other wise!
Seriosly Holly! Who doesn't like D,DD,DDD, Boobies?:)~ ROFLMAO
1984 much?
